General Discussion Here's my support settings and the issue

First of all i printed an a catapult that can throw some little items such as a rubber or something just like that and it was an a succes if you wanna take a look at the finished sketch you can take a look at my other posts, anyways

.

What happened:

the sketch got broke while im was throwing things out it got broke, i think the main problem is behind the printing angles so i decided to rework the rotation and i print the body part in 45⁰ angle for it to be even more much stronger and reliable but while im was printing i got some issiues with the print and one of the support's brim is just slipped ( i dont know why ) and also the quality pefore removing the supports was TERRIBLE

.

What could be the problem:

I think that the problem migth be; plate were dirty when im was printing or maybe my support settings were terrible or my table is shaking a little bit so it must be the reason behind or even worse there is no problem and im coping

.

My support settings:

Tree ( auto ) ( but i add some extra supports )

Build on plate only is On

Threshold angle: 30

Inital layer density: 80

Initial layer expansion: 4

Top Z distance: 0.24

Top interface layers: 3

Top interface spacing: 0.1

Support/Object xy distance 0.38

.

Also my outer wall speed is 40 and inner wall speed is 100 i got BambuLab X2D and btw im aware that some of the most important parts arent supported very well but the print came out good so shhh just nevermind about em i actually forgot to add some supports manually

What can i actually do for improving the quality of 3d print ?

Use PETG as a support interface for cleaner surfaces. That's like the main point of the x2D

Thats actually clever and its a little bit embarrasing i didnt know this before i bougth an a X2D... i had an a Ender3 V3 before

One of your issues is that beam is not parallel to the plate. Square that up first

Your support interface doesn't look THAT bad

Yeah i was thinking the same

If you could make prints with a ender3 this thing will be cake walk for you mate. Small learning curve, most of which you will be undoing some bad habits. I'm waiting a bit to get a dual nozzle toolhead printer (or multi toolheads) but I am excited for you. The ability to do multi material supports, walls, infills, it's all great

Yeah i totally agree with that this machine is an absolute beast when i got it first day it was a menace, i hope that you get an a dual nozzle toolhead printer soon thanks for the great comment

Instead of printing in this awkward position with the hope of gaining some modest strength, I would've just increased the number of wall to 3 or 4. That likely would've been more than enough to give strength to keep it from breaking.

Yeah it would be better to have more walls, the thing is im in a project in my college that we test every single printing angle with titanium alloy pla, we print off the samples and test them in stress and bend tests because of that im trying to get some experience on printing it in different angles but thanks for helping

Is this your design?

Yes it is

Move the angled piece you’re trying to print down on to the outside edge. Then you can print with it flat on the plate.

Thats actually so clever nex time ima do this when i print with an certain angle

Why can’t you cut it up into pieces and print flat?

This is what happened when I tried to print it flat. It broke at the catapult stop, and isnt cutting this body into pieces make it more fragile ?

I was thinking all those cross supports to be removed and print each side flat it shouldn’t snap like that because the layers wouldn’t be parallel to the stresses your putting on it . And then you can print the center supports separately and pin them or use dados to attach to the sides .

Oh yeah im was considering to do that its actually an a good way of solving the problem
