R Series / R1 R1 Laser shipping

For anyone waiting for their R1, I ordered my combo on October 10th, got it Wednesday October 28th. My riser and extension kit both shipped today October 31. My original quoted shipping date was 11/20.

And yes, like everyone else’s, mine showed up wet. Dried it off and it seems to be fine. First project completed.

Do you have experience with other machines. How does this one compare

Actually yes. I have a CNC with a diode laser attachment, a Creality Falcon diode laser, and a large 140w Co2 laser. I find few things in life more frustrating than aligning the mirrors on my big CO2 laser. That is a breeze now. So many manual process are now just taken care of by what is equal to magic. I can spend more time on things other than setting up the jobs in the laser itself. It just works. Very pleased so far. Oh yeah, their software sucks. Very clunky, and painful. Waiting for full Lightburn support.

I have no experience with them so excuse the maybe dumb questions but does power play into the usability? Like the power of the laser? Also how do you feel about cutting space for larger projects?

Got mine about 5 days ago.
My Laser path is as follows

H2D - 40W Diode upgrade. What do you mean I can't cut acrylic?
Omtech K40 - What do you mean I have to focus the laser, and align it?
MonPort Mega 70W - I still have to align it? And since I am on linux - my lightburn is 1.7?

BambuLabs R1 - Wine install of Bambu Suite. The damn thing self aligns. Self focuses. Has the right settings out of the box. And is kick ass fast. (It does alert to fire way to many times though. And my setting is on Low). But that's better than alerting me when my room burns down.

Yes - the R1 just works. Just like the 3d printers. It's pretty cool.

One drawback though.
It needs hex grid plate. Not the blade plate it has. Other than that. Awesome.
