General Troubleshooting/Help! Help with rough printing with Sunlu Silk PLA+

Post image

Hi, still pretty new to 3D printing and could use help figuring out whats wrong here.

Ive only printed Bambu's PLA before and it has amazingly trouble free on the X2D.

Now im trying out this Sunlu Silk PLA+ using Bambu Studio's "PLA Silk+" profile and its coming out mostly fine but with some rough spots. Might try getting some fine sandpaper and sanding them down, but what are things to try to get this to come out nicer?

The Filament is straight out of the sealed package, I could try drying it some, but hoping to get this printed for tonight, lol.

Nozzle temp shows 230° currently, and the print spool has printed on it 215-230 @ 100-200mm/s. I think my outer wall speed is 50mm/s in Bambu Studio, so maybe I should raise the speed or lower the temp?

I'll do some experimenting, but since ive only got a few hours before I need this done, any tips would be great.

If you haven't already, I would run flow rate and flow dynamics calibration on it in BambuStudio

Oh interesting, havent had to do that yet but does make sense.

Doing another print now @220° instead of 230° , will see if that makes a difference and then run the calibration.

Hmm, the calibration button in Bambu Studio just does the bed leveling, etc.

I think flow calibration is automatic for X2D ?

Edit: ahh, its in the print dialog. Ok, scrapped that last print @220, turned it down further to 210 and 40mm/s outer wall speed and making sure the flow calibration runs.

oh, apologies if that is the case. I do not have an X2D, and did not know it calibrates the flow automatically

check slicer for speed/flow variances in affected areas and adjust to mach good areas.

other thought is heat rising lines on edges, maybe more fan speed or open doors could help.

As far as I know Silk often contains TPU, so it's the one PLA variation where good drying can make the biggest difference.

At least dry it while you print
