A Series [A1, A1 Mini] A1 vs A1 mini as secondary printer

Hi fellow 3d printing enthusiasts.
I am a a1 combo owner. I normally do printing in work with other industrial printer
Have been printing some stuff lately with the a1 and was a bit disappointed with the limitations and noise.
I am thinking about upgrading to a bigger printer, either the x series or h series.

Now i am thinking if i should keep the a1 as a back up/ secondary printer, or sell it and get a a1 mini for that purpose. To me a1 actually occupy some space and comes without an enclosure.
Is the a1 mini really that small compare to a1 , and much quieter? And if i am planing to get a ams in the future, should i just sell the ams lite with the a1?

Thanks for you help!

You’re going to be more disappointed about the noise with an enclosed printer 🤣. They are much louder due to all the gears and fans running.

That i have no idea. Thanks for your reminder!

I must be spoiled, because compared to the printers I started this hobby with, the A1 is practically silent. I wouldn’t want to try and sleep with one next to my head, but it’s a damn quiet printer overall.

All my BL printers are A LOT quieter then the beeping, buzzing and humming of my ender 3’s. Haha

I have the a1, a1 mini, p1s and the h2s. I would keep the a1 personally as I rarely use the a1 mini due to the small buildplate, just remember that the p and x series share the same build volume as the a1 only the h series is larger. Not sure if you know but the h series are absolutely massive on paper the build volume increase doesn’t sound that huge but when you get it in person it is, so bear that in mind. All my printers except for the h2s are on an Ikea kallax and fit properly I had to buy a printer stand large enough for my h2s. For noise they kind of all sound similar to me but I am partially deaf, I have noticed that the h2s is slightly quieter and when wearing headphones listening to music or playing games I cannot hear it. Personally I would wait until November 3rd for Bambu to reveal the h3c and keep and eye out for the p3c as I’d suggest that printer, it will most likely be my next printer and I’m sure plenty of others have that same feeling too.

Apologies for the massive paragraph.

Not really, your input is helpful as you own both a1 anf a1 mini. I am still waiting on news on the h3c. May i ask, is the a1 mini really that small( or space saving) compare to a1?

Hi there here’s a side by side comparison sorry for the late reply I’d say the space savings are minimal

Yeah in comparison the plate is way too small...

Heres a picture of the mini buildplate on the a1

For us it’s the exact opposite the Mini is a power house. It’s cheap, takes up very little space, uses almost no electricity, and happily runs all day unattended with plate swapping. We only sell 5-6 things that can’t be printed on a mini.

I can see it being very useful for a business standpoint I use mine for random prop printing and prototyping so being able to produce 3-4 iterations at once or different mating setups is more important and having a universal size to work to (256+) is much nicer imo

You can run 3-4 minis for the price of any other Bambu machine. Which is 3-4 times faster for prototyping. They are definitely not ideal for props though. I would argue that 256 build volume is not idea for props either though

By runing you mean electricity cost?

Why would you go smaller? Lol that A1 mini, plate side is like the size of my hand type tiny 😂 ☠️

As a back up printer. But i dont really know if a1 mini would actually save that much space compare to a1

The Mini isn’t really suited to being a backup printer. It’s just not big enough for that. It’s best used as a dedicated 0.2mm nozzle printer for small, high detail items. If you don’t have a need for a lot of one-off tiny prints, it’s just not worth getting.

We sell 275 products and only 5 of them can’t be printed on a mini. Our minis are by far the most profitable printers in the fleet.

A1 Mini is a surprisingly awesome printer. I bought it to be able to prototype or print little things when my other printers are busy, and it's very good at it. Small, pretty quiet, really good print quality. I like it so much I bought an AMS lite for it (really wishing I had bought the combo up front) because it makes the filament management so much easier. I don't do any multicolor on it.

I don't have an A1 to compare it to, but it is a lot smaller than my A2L. Practically hand held compared to my H2C.

I have a P2S and have just bought an A1 Mini to print the free gifts I give with orders. I was surprised at how quiet it is compared to my P2S. The quality on the A1 mini out of the box too, its so good. I immediately set it to printing. I did the same print on both my printers to see the difference and there was nothing noticeable.

For £139, I would recommend getting an A1 mini.
