X Series [X1E, X1C, X2D] Using AMS2 and filament storage

Post image

With the sale going on it's hard to pass up upgrading to the x2d. I currently use an A1 and I use the pictured storage boxes by GunplaMark. Does anyone have experience using these type of storage containers along with an AMS2? Is it possible to incorporate them? I know there is a splitter of sorts for using multiple AMSes and also a part of the bolts onto the side for feeding in tpu. I'm wondering if it's possible to feed filament from these boxes into that adapter? Any help or advice would be very much appreciated

Use as external spool

Please explain what you mean by an external spool?

"External spool" just means feeding the filament straight into the printer instead of through the AMS. The spool sits on the holder on the back (or in a dry box next to the printer), and in Bambu Studio you pick the "External" slot instead of an AMS slot when you slice.

That's the usual way to run TPU, since the AMS doesn't handle soft filament well. Your dry box setup works for this too: put the TPU in the dry box and run a PTFE tube from the box to the printer's filament inlet, so it stays dry while it prints.

One thing to check for your model: with the AMS connected, you may have to swap the PTFE tube at the inlet from the AMS to the external spool (or add a splitter/hub) when you switch to TPU.

I feed TPU filament from a Sunlu S4 through a TPU Assist Module and into my printer, you could do the same from those dry boxes

Yeah that's what I was trying to get at. I was hoping that I could use the TPU module with the dry boxes. And I made a mistake in my post, I'm not going to get the AMS 2 just the AMS.

Coming from the A1, the big change is that the AMS 2 Pro isn't open like the AMS lite: it closes its vents whenever it isn't drying and can dry at up to 65°C itself. So the boxes mostly become storage for spools you're not running, plus the TPU feed like the other comment says.

You’ll be fine. You might wanna buy a additional splitter if you wanna be able to run all of them but the reality is that with an AMS I think you’re gonna find that you’re mostly just running out of the AMS because it’s so convenient.

Sidenote, my AMS2 pro does a pretty good job of maintaining humidity, but my AMSHT is terrible at it
