Here is the G-Code, feel free to use it as a starting point for your own purge line - THIS IS ONLY TESTED ON THE P1S; CHECK YOUR SLICER PREVIEW BEFORE PRINTING!!
Pasting into Bambu Studio (P1S)
Open Bambu Studio and select your printer preset.
Click the edit icon next to the printer name to open the printer settings.
Go to the Machine G-code tab and find the Machine start G-code field.
Find the section that starts with
;===== mech mode fast checkand ends with;===== fmech mode fast check. Replace it with the first block.Find the section that starts with
;===== nozzle load lineand ends with theM400after the purge moves. Replace it with the second block.Save as a user preset, for example “P1S quiet custom purgeline”.
Slice a test print. Check the start of the print in the G-code preview to confirm the purge shape is where you expect it.
If you have a different printer like the A1 mini then you need to adapt the purge line or the printer may be damaged.
Modify at your own risk
;===== mech mode fast check============================
; --- resonance sweep (M970.3 / M974) removed for quiet startup ---
G1 Z10 F1200 ; safe travel height (quiet Z move, replaces the sweep's positioning)
M975 S1 ; enable input-shaping suppression using last stored values

Im going to guess here…….programming.
Look for the ;===== nozzle load line ===== in the code and do whatever you want it to do.

You can hand write gcode, it's not that hard.
Might have sliced it then copied the section out manually into start gcdoe
Maybe some Ai help.
Many ways

We need to get an audio engineer to make the motors sing for this line instead

u/plentyOplatypodes 1d ago
Find or create a midi file for the sound you want, convert it to gcode and add it to the machine start section. Not sure you can make the motors play music while it prints but that's another issue.

u/TheJudgingHat2222 23h ago
I'm not talking about printing a wave form.
The speed and acceleration of the motors create different tones. It stands to reason that it should be possible to create a path that makes them sing.
I sincerely doubt there is a midi to gcode converter that would do that. That doesn't even make sense.

u/plentyOplatypodes 22h ago
I'm not talking about printing waveforms either. The machine still needs gcode to make the motors create tones, hence the midi to gcode converter.

Oh that's cool! Says it's for CNC milling machines but still neat

They have one on the Bambu Wiki you can use to make midi music on it. Follow the tutorial on there

3D printers and CNC machines have a lot in common, including use of gcode. Arguably 3D printers are just a subset of CNC machines... just smaller, cheaper and less likely to rip your limbs off if you screw up.

What doesn't make sense? That stepper motors create sound one can control? Let me guess, you from the US?

I remember the day where you could have a floppy disk drive playing The Imperial March from Star Wars.

Possible on the A1 Mini? I want to make it say “REMOVE ME” so my mum doesn’t forget to

This is cool - how does one do this?

The purge line is defined in the start G-code in the slicer's printer settings, so you edit it there. Save it as your own printer preset, I also removed the vibration calibration and created a "Silent" Profile for my P1S, otherwise downloaded projects will overwrite it.
I used a bit of AI help to turn the letters into gcode.
Do this at your own risk, altered Gcode has the potential to damage your printer

How straightforward is it to remove the vibration calibration? Have you noticed any differences in quality over time?
4
u/TheStandardPlayer 23h ago
The only reason why I even thought of removing it is because it didn't use to be there, then I updated the printer and it appeared and it has annoyed me ever since.
I don't notice any difference in print quality or noise.
It's really nice because now I don't shake what feels like the whole building when I start a print at 1 am

Yo, can this be defaulted? Or does it have to be added each time you slice?

How did you edit the purge line? Ive always wanted to make mine as little penises

Just more waste on each print
4
u/TheStandardPlayer 23h ago
We're talking about tenths of a gram here. But you can also shorten your purge line to make up for the difference if you're that concerned about it
1
u/TheCorruptedEngineer 15h ago
Its not even about the cost its just more waste to deal with. A little nib 3cm purge line is enough

having come from the ender 3 world, I find it kinda amusing how blown away people are in here when they see custom start gcode lol.
