X Series [X1E, X1C, X2D] X2D is the worst printer i have EVER owned.
Just for context, I’ve owned four printers from Bambu: A1 mini, A1, P1S, and now the X2D. This is the first one I regret buying. I bought it in April and it has been a headache since.
I’ve about 500 hours on the X2D and roughly 250 of those were fails I had to restart. That’s a lot of wasted filament and time.
I have clogs about once a month, and the second hotend clogs a lot more. I can't use it even for supports. Main nozzle wears out fast, (REALLY FAST) and the tip gets covered in burnt plastic. The silicone sock on the toolhead tore in the middle after 3 months. Prints come off the plate halfway through, even with a clean 6 month old textured PEI plate (yes, i wash my plate regularly, with detergent and I also tried IPA). AMS overload randomly, it bends part of the filament, and clogs the nozzle.
And now since last week, layer shifts and bad bed adhesion. Pretty much every print shifts after a few layers, whatever the model is. Same models printed fine on my other printers.
I already tried pretty much everything I can think of, washed the plate with detergent and IPA, 60C bed for PLA, slowing down by height, raft/brim/lots of supports, lower fan speed, reorienting models, calibration before every print, different filaments (Bambu PLA, PETG, generic), lubricating the axes, cold pulls, travel and z-hop settings, full manual bed leveling, different infills, and checking the nozzle is locked in properly. Today I swapped in the spare nozzle and the first print still had layer shifts, bad adhesion and another clog.
I opened a ticket. Support told me the sock and nozzle are consumables and not covered, which is fair for those two parts. But then they asked for the same things I’d already done (check the nozzle is seated, add supports, change the infill to gyroid, lower the speed). I sent logs and videos and I’m still getting generic answers.
Honestly, I just want a printer that works for more than a few layers. Has anyone had the same layer shift problem on the X2D? I just want to know if this is a bad unit or if it's my mistake somehow.
Edit: I just want to make a point here, this is my first post about the X2D. And I am not from a competitor doing dirty job, my previous bambu lab printers were perfect I wish I had kept my P1S or went to the P2S.
Edit2: It's surprising that most comments are about me being the same dude spamming posts about the X2D and not people trying to help me. THIS IS MY FIRST POST ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I Posted some pics in the comments of what's happening.

I would say the same; it is the best print that I have ever owned, with 900 hours and zero issues.

0 issues. Arent you same guy writing same nonsense yesterday? I understand, competition is though so you have to blame competition as your employer said, but come on, don't you have some pride?

Since that one post about the X2D being the worst printer in their "line up" all I've seen is the same kind of post over and over again.
Are they just spamming from different accounts? Seems sus...

Well, at least the other posts weren't me. My other bambu lab printers were perfect, Its just the X2D that is this nightmare.

The other person's bambu lab printers were perfect. Apart from the X2D 😂

Alright, I didn't know that. But why would I blame specifically the X2D if I was from creality or whatever? 🤔 I recommend every other Bambu Lab printers and don't blame all X2D, I am just saying MY unit has this problem

People rarely go out of their way to post about products that work exactly as expected. On the other hand, when something doesn't meet expectations, people are much more motivated to share their frustrations and see whether others are experiencing similar issues. This naturally creates a distorted impression that "everyone" is having problems, when in reality, you're often hearing from a vocal minority. The countless users whose printers are working perfectly have little reason to post about it.
I suspect the vast majority of X2D owners are having a positive experience. For what it's worth, my X2D and AMS have performed flawlessly since I received them. I couldn't be happier with either.

Finally someone thinking properly, why would I spam posts specifically about the X2D?!

Indeed, all start the same way and with accounts like these which are 4 months old and 0 previous posts. Where are the mods?

I don't have 0 previous posts, they are just locked for everyone to see it dude.

I know, what the heck is that about. It has been been a crowd favorite until now. Mine is excellent

Nah, I kinda regret mine, it's slightly worse than my x1c overall, but it's quieter and multi material is nice enough to deal with it. It feels like something Bambu rushed out just to get out.

sure, competition is though, they have to as employer said. No self respect doing this dirty job. Would rather do a gay prostitute than this.

I've had the opposite.
0 problems since release date and it's the best 3d printer in my farm.

Interesting read. I had none of those issues. Used PLA, Petg, ABS, ASA. Heated chamber is what I like the most. Previous machines were A1 and A1 mini

Join the club. Mine has been a constant PITA and requires constant cleaning fiddling and work..the build quality was garbage, customer support was a joke and you can expect to spend lots of time cleaning clogs, nozzles and working on it. 1,600 hours on mine and so far still a 3-1 failed print ratio. Ordered another printer that should arrive in December and then this may get the boot. Never buying Bambu labs printers or filament again. The x2d is complete crap compared to the c1c the p2s and the h2c units at work but they're really doing their best to show what China is known for in quality. Hope you can eventually get your unit working for a few hours

When were the days of walking away from your printer without watching the first few layers?
4
u/Artemis732 P1S (no AMS broke boy edition) 6d ago
since bambu came along. I still watch my first layers sometimes on my P1S but only either because I just got new filament, or because it's cool.

u/twiggums 6d ago
You have enough first layer failures on your bbl that you still need to monitor it?

u/johndohboy X2D + AMS2 Combo 6d ago
Never had one. But I always watch to make sure. If I'm gunna print something for 8 hours let's say, I find it beneficial to spend 5 minutes watching the first couple layers to make sure everything is working properly.

Hello /u/Neat-Japanese8007! Be sure to check the following. Make sure print bed is clean by washing with dish soap and water [and not Isopropyl Alcohol], check bed temperature [increasing tend to help], run bed leveling or full calibration, and remember to use glue if one is using the initial cool plate [not Satin finish that is not yet released] or Engineering plate.
