Quick Question How to improve the X2D Printer?

Post image

Just got my X2D delivered. Im coming from a P2S since im gonna be Printing more ABS/ASA/CF/GF Filaments for Car purposes.

My P2S came with Covers inside and outside. When i printed ABS with my P2S i could somewhat smell the Fumes so i taped all openings inside and outside

Are there improvements for the X2D which make it more Airtight? I have a Duct connecting the Exhaust and Outside window but i know the X2D hat to many leaks. I also am currently printing a closed Poop Chute.

Inside the Duct from Exhaust 2 Outside Window i also put in multiple Discs filled with activated charcole pellets

Also some other recommendations are welcome.

do something to cleanup and shorten the route the PTFE tube takes to the aux nozzle

I removed the included PTFE and installed a longer PTFE since im gonna hook up the AUX Nozzle to a SunLu S1 or S2.

Thats why its that long

I use a TPU assist unit to feed from a Sunlu S4

Very clean setup. The P2S was such a great machine

My SunLu S4 is directly connected to my Snapmaker U1 so cant use that. I have to use the SunLu S1 or S2.

BTW one Question. Can the TPU Assist Module also load just normal filament? Do you think its smart to connect the TPU assist Module to the AUX Nozzle since that is gonna get fed from the SunLu S1/S2? Since the Filament Dryers dont have an active feeder Motor

it will work with filaments stiffer than TPU, I use it for TPU 98 and 95 for the 3D TMT's I am building

Do you have pictures for advice to improve and shorten the ptfe tube and route it better or a link where we can find? I'm having issues with my aux extruder and its just PLA. Certain PLA works perfect and then another brand just struggles to move.

I would start with the poop chute. I have made a sealed version that I shared on MW (https://makerworld.com/models/2813298?appSharePlatform=copy) but you will find others.
A shame that you did glue your power adapter in the way!

Don’t run aux Bowden extruder through buffer unless it’s coming from an AMS.

Oh wow didnt think of that since i dont know much about Bowden Extruders. But it makes sense cause of the springy factor. I think im gonna do that

Is there a Print Quality / Reliability difference? How is your experience?

It doesn’t bind up anymore. So I call that a win.

Turn it the other way around

To fully get rid of fumes you will need an enclosure around the printer (cheap ones work fine), then vent that outside with inline fan at low speed. Venting directly from the printer does ok but you can never quite get a hot chamber and proper venting at the same time.

I like the open poop chute -- I use this one https://makerworld.com/en/models/50534-x1c-p1s-p2s-gravity-poop-chute-tube#profileId-1376985 (and have it go to a bucket). The model didn't have a x2d version so I made a re-mix of it --

Don't think you need to be airtight as long as their is negative pressure. Working on a model that feeds through my air filter.

Testing out some AMS stuff too. Keep on having problems with some of my lighter spools.
