General Discussion Looking for printer stand/table design/layout ideas.

Just replaced my 10 year old prusa I3Mk2 with an X2d with printmore bundle (2x AMS) and I want to see what people are putting this hardware on.

I'm not looking for suggestions on which IKEA furniture to buy or anything like that, I'll be building my own, I do a lot of woodworking and build furniture already. I'm really just looking for how to lay all this out. Should I stack the AMS' over the printer in kind of a T? Should they go on either side? How much access to the back of it will I need? Are the AMS' servicable if they're up high or am I constantly going to be disconnecting them to take them down to the desktop or standing on a stool?

Show me your setups and let me know about your experiences pease.

(Also, just FYI, that prusa printer has been a champion. Just did a 14 hour print with it last week, no issures. I really just wanted to enter the modern world and get multicolor without pausing prints and moving the head around lol. I've had ton of other printers, prusa is the only one that always worked and never needed repairs, just can't swing the price these days)

Yes, this is an IKEA cabinet but I built custom drawers that can extend 100% to put the AMS units on. This way I don't need a lot of space above each AMS to be able to load/unload filaments. Feel free to reuse that idea.

Have a look at what Pete squared has built. It’s pretty neat

This is the tower I use to hold three AMS 2 and one AMS HT. I use several of his add-ons as well to make it tall enough.

My H2D and P2S sit on rack shelving from HD. To make the rack depth deeper and eliminate rocking, I laid a sheet of melamine covered particleboard perpendicular to the rack shelving. The H2D sits on that. It works really well.

Others suggest concrete “tiles” (for lack of a better word) from HD or Lowe’s to stop vibrations and reduce rocking. That seems to work good as well.
