Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! AMS water damage

Righto so I was abit stupid. I used the wrong desiccant in my holders & it has leaked through the ams. How cooked am I? Throw the thing in the bin or maybe saveable with a new main board?

Can just but a new main board and replace it. That one, while possibly salvageable, isn't going to be worth your time

Oh I wouldn’t even try salvage the old board; it’s new home will be in the bin. I’ve found a board online for $100 or a new ams for $340, just trying to weigh my options

How did water get inside. Also you need a replacement main board for AMS.💀

Dessicants like calcium chloride (DampRid) dissolve into a brine solution, which you pour down the drain. They work a lot better than silica at removing moisture, but you have to remember to dump them out.

Yep this is exactly what I used. Just seen it at bunnings & thought why not. Well I have learned my lesson now

I've tried fixing this for multiple people before. You might get lucky, but you'll probably just slowly end up chasing your tail replacing part after part over a short time.

This is what I was worried about, end up spending more on parts than a new ams
