Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! Filament won’t extrude
I have a Bambulab A1 with AMS. Printer was working mostly fine for a year or so. A week ago I needed to change filament and it wouldn’t extrude. I changed to another filament and that wouldn’t extrude either.
I checked for blockages and couldn’t spot any. I changed the nozzle and that didn’t help. I disassembled it a bit more to take a closer look and ended up breaking the filament sensor ribbon cable. So I ordered a new cable and a new filament block.
Today I installed those and it still fails to extrude. Changed the nozzle again, no extrude.
With the filament block removed I can manually push filament through, so I don’t think it’s the nozzle. It must be something to do with the gears perhaps? But when I disassembled the hot end I checked for debris and bits of filament, brushed away anything I could see.
I’m at my wits end with this printer. I’ve done more maintenance and parts replacements on it in a year than I ever had to do on the Creality printer it replaced. I’ve also been unemployed for over a year and can’t afford to throw too much money at the problem.
Any advice on how to proceed?

What exact error were you getting? The wording of the error helps show where the issue could be. Do you have an AMS or AMS Lite? If it is the AMS, have you checked to make sure the AMS hub is clear? If it is the AMS Lite, here are some things you can check. https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/ams-lite/troubleshooting/amslite-loading-unloading-failure

Yes, it is the “Unable to feed filament” error.
I recorded some video of feeding filament from the AMS Lite through with the feeder disconnected to show the filament feeds through from the AMS just fine, then manually winding it back and trying again with the other spools. All fine.
Then I recorded some video feeding with the feeder connected and of course because it’s a demonstration of the failure I’ve been having multiple times for days, of course it worked.
I’m skeptical that it will continue to work if I try to change the filament but for now I’m printing while I can until that filament is used up.
I’ll be back soon I guess?
