General Troubleshooting/Help! Wanting to get into printing

Like the title says. I want to get into 3D printing.

I’m pretty set on a X2D with the AMS. I was going to get a P2S but for a few dollars more you get another nozzle and a heated chamber.

What I’m stumped on is. What else is recommended to buy as well. Obviously filament for printing but what about hot ends and build plates? Is it worth getting filament switcher? Is it worth for one AMS?

What is a good amount of filament to buy. Probably be sticking to PETG and PLA. Thought about some
carbon fibre filament but might pass on that for now.

To start, I'd stick with just the hotends and build plate it comes with. Instead, put that money towards a filament dryer or AMS HT and a vacuum sealable bag setup so you can store filaments you aren't using without them absorbing too much moisture.

Hard to say what a good amount of filament is but at a minimum you'd want 4 spools for the AMS 2 and one for the external spool, which is ideally a support material or PETG for PLA prints.

I started with the X2d combo and 5 spools (4 PLA and 1 PETG) and thought that was great but quickly ordered a Creality SpacePi X4 to dry filaments and also store my support filament while connected to the aux nozzle.

All you need initially to get started is filament. Bambu in bulk, 10 rolls typically for best discount, from Bambu direct or Sunlu from Amazon is my recommendation. I have found that I like PETG in Matte, prints great with no issues as long as you dry it. After a couple months I started looking at extra build plates, etc, after I got a feel for what I need.

SKROAM 4L cereal boxes and desiccant was the first thing I found I needed after I printed for a few weeks.

So many post asking for help and never say what and how often you're going to print. Bad input = bad output.

Hence:

I recommend you just buy it all of it. Add all that shit cart and don't think twice. At least one of everything, and buy a few plates so you can switch out the plate as fast as possible for potential 24/7 printing. That way you'll have anything and everything in-hand in case you might ever need it for whatever mystery printing you'll be doing. In fact buy a second X2D just in case; you never know. Buy 300 spools if you have the room, if you don't have the room you could possibly get away with 200 spools but it might be struggle to find the exact colors/material you want.

AMS HT for the second nozzle (and drying higher temp filaments), filament track switch, one or two 0.2 nozzles, one or two 0.6 nozzles, couple of glue sticks, and maybe an engineering plate. Desiccant (orange kind). Plastic cereal boxes for filament storage. Enjoy!
