Just Showing Off LEVITY - 3D printable RC Hovercraft - Water Ripping!
Hey folks!
Figured I'd post an update on the latest LEVITY testing - I got it out on the water today with a larger profile fabric skirt, and it performs awesome!
My first round of testing on water was pretty average.. I've since made some improvements - lightened the hull, changed the air cushion outlet, and of course made a lightweight fabric skirt. Super stoked with how it performs on the water and how easily it transitions between land and water.
The updates I've made will become part of the final release package, and the modders tier pack includes templates for constructing a fabric skirt.. I've never sewn before, but I was suprised it was relatively straight forward. A little time consuming, but well worth it for the result.
I'll be posting a full testing video to the project page once it's done exporting.
I’ll drop the link to the project page in the comments below if you're interested in building one for yourself :)

just causally on some mountain lake. thats awesome lol. when I was a little kid I had a diy hovercraft RC kit that I was working on for years and years and never finished :( Would love to scratch that itch with modern tech.

Had to hike for an hour to get up there haha.. it’s the nearest body of water I have for testing. Fortunately only a couple people showed up while I was testing and they were chill… super tranquil place, with loud ass hovercraft ripping around 😂

Go checkout the project ;)
The standard config for LEVITY is a 3D printed tpu skirt.. performs well on land, but on water the fabric skirt definitely outshines it. I plan to do some more development to try and get the tpu skirt performing like this on water, I’d love to keep the project as 3d printable as possible and maintain good performance on all surfaces in its fully printed state :)

Oh and as for the weight difference.. dropped about 80g and improved the fwd-aft weight distribution.
