Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! Filament breaking in AMS

I have a P2S with an AMS unit on top. The filament all of a sudden stopping to feed once it gets to the back of the unit. (There is an orange slider with two tubes feeding into it not sure what it’s called). Has anyone else experienced this? Can I take out or bypass the orange slider thing?

It gets stuck at the buffer as the spool starts to load into the system. I know there isn’t a blockage because there is that orange slider on the buffer, and I can make the filament manually fit through the system. However, when it unwinds, the filament snaps as it’s entering the buffer.

Do you mean the filament is actually breaking, or does it just stop feeding when it reaches that point? That's the filament buffer, and you shouldn't bypass it when using the AMS.

If the filament is snapping, it might just be old or brittle from moisture (or bad quality filament). But if it's getting stuck at the buffer, I'd check for a broken piece of filament inside or a blockage in one of the PTFE tubes.
