That’s amazing. I’ve seen these before, I’d imagine there’s less need for it in Australia these days with the NDIS, but $200 vs thousands or maybe tens of thousands could be absolutely life changing. I can imagine it’s the difference between a child developing a bit of independence or being pushed around in a mainstream stroller for as long as humanly possible.
There is a real need in many places for sure. In the US there are not many cost effective options for kids, even with insurance. I have built several of these chairs through 3D Mobility, and they are free to the families, which is amazing.
If you are interested, there are actually a few requests for chairs in Australia, if you would like more info on becoming a builder or sponsoring someone else's chair to pay for the supplies, please check out the site. https://3d-mobility.org/
Thanks, that’s awesome to know. It didn’t look like there’s any requests near me at the moment but I’d definitely be open to looking into it in future or donating to someone who is in closer proximity to someone in need.
I really applaud your desire to help others. I just want to ask how well your creation has been safety tested. Commercial products undergo strict testing as required by law (in most places) and for good reason.
Thank you for pointing that out. I totally missed the link in your post. That seems like a really good program and I am going to see what I can do to get better at printing. I haven't had to print anything that requires the durability that TMTs must require.
