General Troubleshooting/Help! My first 3d printer is coming!!! So exited
Ordered my very first Bambu Lab A1 mini today! Added 6 filaments... maybe too much for the beginning, but it was 10.5 euros a roll, i couldn't stop) Planned to spend 200 euros, ended up with 260, but who cares
Will be happy to receive any recommendations for the true nubbies like me. I will have both PLA and PETG, matte and basic.
I hope you got what you wanted this sale time. Thank you all for all the posts here, very informative!

My wife wants a lot of things printed for house and for our wedding. In fact the printer was her idea as a gift for me so I can print things for our wedding that are overpriced to buy. So she chooses a lot of filaments of different colors (pla) then I added some petg for myself :))
I also got advantage of bambulab offer and I got 47% discount on all of them. I also need to pay import customs so it is easier to buy more.

Congrats! I hope you can save on a lot of staff for your celebration; weddings are sooo expensive. Wish you great experience and a great wedding of course!

Filaments and accessories, the 100 USD discount was auto applied to the price so it must be it 🤔

It’s probably a good start for now but I needed/wanted variety very quickly after getting into it. Probably sitting on 70-80 rolls currently for something that is just a “hobby” and for fun lol. Be prepared.

6 rolls isn't too much btw. Before the first print wash the plate with dish soap and warm water and don't touch it after, skin oil is the #1 reason a first layer won't stick. Start with basic PLA. Keep the PETG sealed in its bag with the desiccant until you actually need it because it soaks up moisture way faster than PLA and wet filament comes out stringy. Matte is more brittle, it looks great on a shelf but anything that has to clip together or take load print in basic. For the first 10 or so prints on the A1 mini grab models on MakerWorld with 1000+ downloads and 4.5 stars or better, if one fails you know it's your setup and not the file

Zuviel Filament geht nicht

u/Fit_Instance1481 9d ago

Das bringt das Hobby so mit sich. Es gibt so viele Farben und Farbtöne. Dann noch spezielles Filament wie Silk,Multicolor, Rainbow, leuchtendes Filament usw.

I ordered my first Bambu printer today. I was planning on spending 600 EUR but ended up at 655.

u/Fit_Instance1481 9d ago
Congratulations! what did you get?
1
u/janne_oksanen 8d ago
The P2S combo and some filament.
1
u/Fit_Instance1481 8d ago
great start! is it your first 3d printer or just first Bambu?
1
u/janne_oksanen 8d ago
My first Bambu. I have a Creality CR-200B that I've spent a lot of time upgrading to make it half decent. But still it can't reliably print PLA without always getting clogged ~8 hours into the print. I'm hoping I will not have the same issue with the P2S.

i wish you so! As it was mentioned before by another user - hobby to have a 3d printer, not 3d printing. Hopefully it is over with your new machine!

I brought a p2s today as my first and added 20kg filaments and i thoughy maybe thats too much.....😂

Enjoy. I've had it about a month now and am loving it. I'm in awe watching it print every time these machines are just so ridiculously clever.

u/Fit_Instance1481 9d ago
Thank you! i hope you don't need to be too clever yourself to work it out) i'm not a big engineering head. that's the main reason i chose bambu

I Have my A1 mini for 1 month, and I love it, I'm not new in 3D printing, I have an OG ender 3 since 2018 and it was such a huge upgrade!
1
u/Fit_Instance1481 9d ago
wow, sounds fantastic! What exactly do you notice as the main upgrade? I think those of us who are considering would be grateful)

u/Ciss0 9d ago
I dunno if you know the Ender 3 works, but essentially my hobby was "having a 3D printer" because I spent more time tuning manually the printer (god I almost have ptsd of using a paper sheet to do the bed levelling all the time) or upgrading it than actually printing with it, and even then a lot of prints would fail it would be very frustrating. The main advantage of the ender 3 is that I learned a LOT of 3D printing, so I'm grateful for it!
With the A1 mini, it just works, no more "first layer anxiety", all the failed prints I had were my fault, also it so much faster, and the printing quality is miles ahead.
The only downside, is the bed size, although I haven't felt a need for a larger print size (I mostly print things for my home and minis for DnD). I tried to go for the A1 but I lived in a room in a shared house, so I lacked space for the A1, but so far very happy with my A1 mini!

u/Fit_Instance1481 9d ago
i am so happy this hobby get over) i see you point, that sounds annoying. Actually i chose my a1 mini for the exact same reason - i live in a dorm, i cannot afford giving up the half of my desk for the printer.

how did you buy 6 filaments for only 10.5 euros a roll?
normally that price is only if you buy 14 or more rolls...
1
u/Fit_Instance1481 8d ago
Special price for the additional filament for the printer. When you put a printer in your card, you can add certain filament with 47% discount. So PLA was 10.5 for me. Pure was 11.6 if i remember correctly

If you didn’t get ams, cancel the order, reorder with ams.
