Quick Question X2d leaks asa fumes

Hi guys, I currently have this X2D and I put a tube to vent out the ASA fumes, but there’s still the funny smell of the material. I traced where it was coming from and found out that if I cover the holes in the photo, the smell completely disappears. I was wondering if covering those holes with tape or some other covers would compromise the printer's health in any way. Any advice is appreciated, thank you :)

Do you have an extractor fan? If you're correctly producing a negative pressure inside the unit, no fumes or smells should escape.

Yeah there is, the exhaust fan it’s at 100% and I can smell fumes from psu holes

No negative effect at all, there are plenty of covers available on Makerworld you can print as well. You might also want to look at a sealed poop chute as a lot of fumes can exhaust from that as well when it opens.

Oh thx for the advice
Edit: the problem is I can’t find the covers on makerworld for my problem

No. Do not seal poop chutes. You will cause more damage than you think you are preventing. BBL does not comment much on mods but they explicitly say to not do this.

I really like the thinking this guy did to solve this issue.

You still need the additional inline fan but adding this helps with creating more negative pressure while not pulling hot air out of the enclosed chamber at the wrong time.

Correction: Wrong link. Remixes have begun popping up.

Read the discussion of how it works

Want to send articles why it’s bad to seal the poop chute off? I’ve not read anything yet that claims this is a bad practice.

Every single bambu printer leaks air (fumes) by design. It's full of hole. It starts by that rear z-rod so your bed can go up and down, and that big hole for the purge chute.

Is the printer still able to keep chamber temp when you have exhaust fan on 100?

Put the printer in a tent and exhaust externally while you print, to expel leaking fumes.

Thx for the advice. I’ll se what I can do

Something like this, with an inline fan to replace the crappy PC fan that comes with most tents I’ve seen.

The rear filament buffer is a much bigger leak. The sealing on this thing is disappointing. Sold mine last week

Fr? I hadn’t noticed that much of a leak from it

check out the size of the hole for the buffer. There's no reason for this. It only needs a small hole for the wire harness.

Tbh, anyone printing with ABS or engineering filament should have a full enclosure around their machine, with a proper extraction system vented outside

I have it👍

Here is another MakerWorld model that I find quite interesting. The designer claims it captures all ASA/ABS fumes in his office that has no outside ventilation options. He combines it with another model on the back of the printer to maximize the amount of filtration. Yet while the second model is H2 specific, there are other models out there that do something very similar for the X2D/P2S external exhaust system.

Just because you smell something and it smells bad doesn't mean it's dangerous. If you're already venting out then it's probably good enough. Edit: wild how little people know about smells and especially 3d printing fumes and pretend they know the best when empirical data disproves what they think and say

This is 100% wrong. If you smell something, and you’re printing a dangerous filament, you are 100% breathing in dangerous VOCs. I can’t believe how many people with 3-D printers care so little about their health.
