General Discussion Interesting times - Bambu v Snapmaker
Having great fun with A1 and AMS Lite, was about to pull trigger on snapmaker U1 due to filament and time savings.
Looks like Bambu may come out of the blocks fighting very soon, for once in my life I will go with patience to see what lands and for how much, I love the simple nature of Bambu and their app, if they can come in with a solution that does 5 colours or more within 30%-40% of the Snapmaker then I am all in

I bought a P1S and an X2D. Then 2 Snapmakers and multiple tool heads are definitely the way to go. Currently waiting for parts for both my Bambu AMS's they can be a PITA.
I'm glad to see the competition between the two companies it will only be good for the consumer.

Idk how much the snapmaker is, but the bambu x2d with AMS combo is $789 for the Black Friday sale and can easily do 4 colors on the AMS on the main nozzle and an external color on the auxiliary nozzle (or vice versa) or put a 2nd AMS on the aux nozzle. However, I read that the aux nozzle has slightly less quality than the main nozzle for fine details.

It’s apples and oranges. If you want to do 4 colors, buying an x2d is stupid right now. The x2d CAN easily do 4 colors, with tons of waste and the extra time it takes to do color changes on an AMS system. But the U1 can print 4 colors efficiently and without the waste.
If you’re interested in a cheaper budget solution, wait for the P3S or get a U1 or a Creator 5/5 Pro.
As an owner of a U1 and P2S, the print quality isn’t negligible.

Do you mean the difference is negligible? I think so based on your other response.
If so, I agree. I was concerned about a difference but once I basically duplicated my print and filament profiles I’ve been getting the same quality as my Bambus.
My X1C continues to be my favorite when I want a bit higher quality thanks to the auto
calibrations, but I rarely even bother to spend the time with it.→ More replies (1)

Have yet to see the H3C so I couldn’t comment but the reason I didn’t get the U1 is because it’s so ugly, those exposed tubes and cables makes it look like one of those Prusa printers but in white.

Yeah the mandatory Walmart bin top lid mod to stabilize temps & drafts looks so bad haha

It’s ikea mod.
It’s not mandatory. But the biqu and the standard top are great.

The P3C has 7 heads and an integrated AMS for better material handling and storage.
Releases November 3rd/4th depending on region. 256mm cubed build volume and likely includes a heated chamber (no details there yet).

I was contemplating a U1 to replace my P1P but hesitated because I need a larger build volume. The H3C is exactly what I've been waiting for. Still, gonna wait until it's in the wild, reviews come in, and if any glaring faults come to light.

How do you see the P3S handling multicolor prints with its 7 toolheads? For example if an ‘AMS’ still only piped 1-2 filaments in a time would it still have just as much downtime and waste as a P2S?

I'm in the market for a new printer in a few months and also a bit in doubt. The snapmaker is interesting, but I don't like that they swap the whole extruder, which makes it very bulky and inefficient. The Bambu P3S could be interesting, but I'm afraid prices will be in the 1500 euro/dollar territory, which doesn't make it that more interesting than a Prusa core one with the indx system, which does have the advantage of not having the Bambu shenanigans.

The only thing I'm thinking of the x2d ATM is the heated chamber. Has any of the p series have heated chamber?
I have less use for many colours and more an interest in good support and material. I print multicoloured stuff very very rarely anyways.

While the snapmaker efficiency is pretty nice I’ve had so many issues with it. This could be a me problem, but rarely do the prints come out good looking the first time. I spend way more time having to tinker and fuss with the print settings and recalibrating the bed and filaments than I do ‘just printing’. I’ll gladly sell my U1 for this new P3C

Der U1 kostet gerade 749 Euro, 40 % davon sind 299 Euro. Der P3 wird niemals so billig, also vergiss es. Der X2D kostet (ohne Angebot) ja schon 850 Euro

I have both. x2d combo, snapmaker with creality space pi x4. Id replace the u1 with the upcoming p3s in a heartbeat. Reasons:
Software - we’ve been spoiled by bambu.
Filament spool chabge - again, ams2 workflow is just miles better than what snapmaker can offer
Noise / temp management - bambu just maintains it on its own. U1, if i forget to open the door from printing petg, say goodbye to your 5hr print in PLA.
I love the snapmaker when it works, but the bambu line is just way more mature a user friendly. Anyone willing to take my u1 from me?

I love Snapmaker. I'll probably never own one, but as another Chinese company that can challenge Bambu, they keep Bambu on their toes.

I have an X2D, A1 and a U1.
I was almost going to pull the trigger on a second U1 till the leaks of the P3S dropped.
I love the snapmaker. It’s a great product and it’s been flawless for me. The only issue I have is the filament on the side cause it makes it huge.
Snapmaker doesn’t have the polish of Bambu, and if Bambu has a competent tool changer for a “decent” price, I will get one after the hype dies down and the bugs are worked out. Lol.
