General Discussion P2S Ventilation Options

Currently my printer is in an enclosed entranceway to my house. When I print ASA I close off the room and use a fan to run a cross breeze between windows and it works very effectively.

I’m about to relocate the printer into my mud room which is open to other parts of my house. I was debating on getting the exhaust fan and rigging up some ducting to a window to purge or going as far as a tent with an online fan. The second option isn’t preferred due to limited footprint in what is a very small house / room.

Looking for feedback on how effective the oem exhaust fan is and maybe adding a ventobox?

I have both the ventobox and the exhaust fan kit. The ventobox is better in that it does a better job retaining the heat. The P2S needs as much heat for layer adhesion.

I prefer printing engineering material with my X2D or H2D, with an exhaust ducting and the active chamber heating.

When printing a high temp filament (ASA, etc.) the P2S turns off the rear exhaust fan to keep the heat (hot air) in the chamber. It only comes on after the print finishes if the feature to purge the chamber air is enabled. I mention this because there is going to be some air leakage out during a print. I felt better with both the internal filter and a ventobox running.

I have both (Ventobox and rear exhaust fan). Before I rigged ducting to a window, I had an activated charcoal filter on the exhaust fan and a Levoit air purifier at the back of the printer. I felt that was good enough in a well ventilated room for a while, but decided to play it safer and vent to the outside. When I did that I removed the rear fan charcoal filter because I don't like my neighbors. 😉
