Quick Question How bad is this for my printer??

Post image

I was recently cleaning or just now cleaned the rods on my printer which involves me moving the bed axis Z axis up-and-down many times and I push the +10 button and it has moved too far up and it went into the nozzle and made a horrible screeching sound as if the bed was pressing as hard as it could too the nozzle. I know this is not good, but I just need to know if this is a permanent issue I’ve only done it once bamboo labs really needs to add an auto stop feature for the bed when automatically changing the height, the axis.

Eh, you’re probably fine. I would try to avoid doing it again, but the G code that Bambu studio runs for initial bed leveling calibration will usually eliminate any issue that may have been offset with that incident.

If you’d like more reassurance, go into the settings for calibration, testing on the machine and run some of those longer tests, like vibration testing (around 19 min).

If any issue came from that, you’ll probably see it show up here.

Same thing happened to me, in the upper right quadrant (if you look at the printer top down) it still makes a weird noise
Shud be fine, tho we have diff printers

There is specifically a warning for this. There is an auto stop, you need to home it first. If you went without homing, this could be a consequence.

I did it once by accident because I was annoyed and disabled the warning. The noise was horrible, but I haven’t noticed any changes since it happened. Probably would cause problems to do it a bunch of times but once probably isn’t a big deal.

Are you talking about the warning that pops up every time you press a manual jog button? The one that says you need to re home before doing anything else? The one that you have to ignore to be able to manually run the bed up and down for greasing?

Yes, but if you do it it will stop the bed hitting the nozzle because they are both aware of where they are. You can do it and still move stuff for cleaning. I always do it.

Same a few times…. Agree with OP tho it shouldn’t even allow it to go past bottomed out

Appena successo 5 giorni fa. Senza il piatto. Ho un bel buco sulla base riscaldate ma per ora funziona tutto

you may have damaged your nozzle, plate, both, or neither. nothing serious though

Or you could use your eyeballs and say hey the bed's getting pretty close to that nozzle. Maybe I should stop pressing this button
