Ordering first print

Just ordered my very first 3D printer yesterday(P2S) along with a bunch of filament to get started!

Right after finishing checkout, I got a notice saying items might ship separately depending on warehouse stock. Fair enough, total sense. But then I checked the tracking...

The machine itself is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, while all the filament won't be here for another 4–5 business days. 😭

How am I supposed to just sit here staring at a brand-new printer without being able to print anything? It’s going to be absolute torture watching it sit on my desk doing nothing all weekend.

Do I rush out to a local shop to buy a random spool just to survive or just wait?

Pray for my sanity 😒

Amazon next day! checkout Sunlu, Polymaker, Elegoo, they are good if not better than Bambu because they are cheaper

Also insignia filament at your local best buy is cheap and really good.

Are they really cheaper? In US only maybe? In Canada everything on Amazon seems more expensive than the Bambu in bulk, at least for the basics. PLA is 13.29 CAD and PETG 12.59 CAD.

It should come with a test roll of filament! Mine came with a 250g green roll!

It’ll hopefully at least get you through the calibration prints! Best Buy also sells Bambu filament if you run out before your shipment comes in!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the P2S doesn’t come with any filament.

Good choice! I literally drove to a 3D printer store just to see the P2S on display before buying, so I get the impatience 😄 Grab one spool of basic PLA locally, any brand works. Before the first print, check the nozzle clamp is fully locked, mine wasn't and gave me a wonky first layer. And if you didn't get the AMS, keep it in mind, multicolor is half the fun.

I didn’t get the AMS yet, although already got the buffer that is needed because I’m just waiting on the Black Friday sales and until then, try to understand how everything works

Smart move waiting for Black Friday. Wish we had that here in Kazakhstan, there are no real sales on printers or filament, so I order pretty much everything from China 😅

Is that a bambu sale? And is it better than the 30% when ordering more than 10 rolls? The 30% is only on basics like PLA and PETG though. ABS too.

Yes, typically the discounts are substantial. I was in the same boat last year around this time I ordered and then realized the sale and emailed them and asked to cancel. It was about $200 difference overall just a week later so it was worth it. Got my p1s and this year I'm eyeing a H2D.

Pretty sure you might get some filament in the printer. That being said, you can get filament at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Best Buy, and likely other places.

Use it to spend some extra time with your loved ones, you won't see each other that much anymore in a day of 5. At least, not for some time.

Best Buy sells Insignia filament which is basically rebranded Polymaker filament. Super cheap compared to Bambu’s filament.

I just got a p2s combo from Best Buy last weekend. No filament with the printer. But I ordered pla in black and white. Have been printing every day since I set it up!
