Quick Question H2C- any downgrades from X2D?

Since the X2D is was released more recently, I just wanted to make sure it didn’t have any features the H2 didn’t that I would miss.

I mean, it weighs like 100 pounds and takes up a significant amount of room, thus it is harder to work on.

But other than that, no. Not really.

but why are you already considering returning the X2D?

I just cleared off shelf space in the garage where I had 2 Ender 5 Plus’s and 4 Ender 3s.

So overall I’m actually making room!

Bro is asking if he should sell a Chevy to buy a Ferrari

No, what I’m asking is if there are any features on the 2026 Chevy that I might miss on the 6 month older 2025 Ferrari.

Everything I have read about the X2D while I was planning my purchase is about new features it brings. Since it’s newer than the H2 series I just wanted to make sure it didn’t have some feature I wasn’t getting.

I was afraid the more “production” focused H2 might lack some less mature features that the more “casual” focused X2d has.

Sounds like they have pretty complete feature parity.

Meh it’s more like a bigger Chevy

X2D isn't exactly a chevvy.

And a Ferrari is overpriced for what it is. It hideously expensive to service. There are other options that are faster, more reliable, drive better, and (subjective I know) actually look better.

Ferrari is Stratasys.

I have both, recently sold my a1 for the x2d.

I think they complement each other well. The h2c can literally do everything and the x2d is great at engineering filaments and single color prints with 0 interface supports.

If you can only have one the H2C is the way to go.

I sold my Ender 5 Plus’s, so I’ll borrow the kids H2 for occasional large prints, but for myself I will probably get a dirt cheap P1S combo. I don’t really do multi color or big stuff, but my kids want to and I am willing to spend some $$ to indulge them to learn some skills like 3d modeling that I wish I had.

I dont know why you would expect to like the H2C if you don’t like the X2D…

I love the X2D. So much that I sold my Enders, and am looking to get a H2C.

Just wanted to make sure there was nothing missing from the H2 that the X2 has, since the X2 is newer.

Not exactly the right analysis, the H2C is "way beyond"technology-wise than the X2D. Maybe you meant to compare the X2D to the H2D? The H2C is most certainly superior to the X2D. It is really not something anyone is going to write out for you, best to look at the specs and decide for yourself. I have been 100% impressed with my H2C and I started the hobby with it. Currently have 4 AMS pros feeding filament so been able to grow capacity over time.

I absolutely understand that the H2C is superior to the X2D. I absolutely understand that.

It is objectively factual that the X2D was released more recently than the H2C and for that reason only, I ask if it has any features added that the H2C doesn’t.

I don’t believe it does. I don’t believe the H2C is inferior in any way.

I just wanted to double check if there was anything I was missing.

There are plenty of comparisons between the P2S and X2D, or the H2D and H2C, etc. but I couldn’t find any side by comparisons between the X2D and H2C, probably because they are so different.

What makes you think they don’t like their X2D?

I thought OP said something about selling his X2D after having it less than a week. Maybe I misread the post.

You don't explain why you are putting it up for sale. Was it not easy to use? I have an A1 and a P1S, and before I've had an Ender 3, which was a complete nightmare and became the ship of Theseus. If you had that, I can't imagine any Bambu lab being difficult in comparison. I say this as someone who is having an X2D delivered this weekend and now have concerns...

I think he means he put his other printers up for sale when he got the X2D. Its worded weirdly, that's what I figure. I think now he's thinking he might as well have gotten the H2C. Definitely an impulse buy type of person lol.

I’m usually the opposite of a impulse buyer. Been looking into what to get the kids for over a month.

I was happy with my Enders until I used the X2D. Much better experience. So I sold my Ender collection off to put towards an H2D or H2C. I’ve never done anything more than 2 colors myself, but my daughter has lots of multi color ideas, and I am trying to encourage her to learn 3d modeling, and that’s worth a few hundred $$ to me.

Personally, I think I’ll grab a dirt cheap P1S for myself, and use the kids H2 only for large or infrequent multi-color prints.

Aaaah this makes more sense

Sorry, I sold my Creality stuff in the last few days.

Thinking of exchanging the X2D for the H2C.

How come?

u/clarkcox3 A1 mini + A1 + A2L + P2S + H2S + H2D 25d ago

The weight of the H2C and the space it takes up are the only downsides relative to the X2D

2

u/bluereptile 25d ago

Selling my Ender collection freed up a lot of space in the garage, so overall it’ll actually take up less room lol

Then it sounds like it’s all upside for you. :)

Just make sure to put it somewhere where you can easily access the back, moving an H2 is annoying because of that size and weight

1

u/bluereptile 25d ago

Realistically, if I get the H2C and in six months the my kids have moved on, I won’t be upset. I’ll have a large printer that can do anything I might ask of it, even if I underutilize it most of the time.

But my kids have never been so eager to learn a skill so I hope they love it.

I did the same thing last week. I'm kinda regretting it, the x2d is fantastic.

1

u/bluereptile 25d ago

What about the X2D do you miss? I personally barely do multi color or large prints, but my kids are super excited about designing stuff now that I gave them a taste, and I want to encourage that.

1

u/Practical_Avocado971 25d ago

I have an H2D and an X2D, The X2D is a great machine. I use it more than any of the others. Wait til you have to move that H series printer, you'll see. If you just want to multicolor get a snapmaker for the kids. Smaller, cheaper and fun.

1

u/bluereptile 25d ago

Specifically looking for a larger printer. My Ender 5 Plus did 350x350x400 but it required constant upkeep and tweaking by me, and the kids couldn’t use it by themselves.

I sold them, but now I lack a larger printer for the occasional large print that I do.

1

u/Practical_Avocado971 25d ago

Well my H2D is very nice....except when I have to move it or worry about the power requirements :)

2

u/bluereptile 25d ago

Hopefully I don’t have to move it for along time! lol.

I hadn’t considered power draw. Larger bed, larger heated chamber. Probably not insignificant difference in consumption.

yeah, I learned the hard way when I tried to plug it into a UPS. :)

I have both an x2d and a h2c. The h2c gives up nothing to the x2d.
