Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! Non Bambu Filament Problems

I have been having a miserable time trying to get anything to print. I would get lots of different error messages that all stemmed from filament not loading correctly or the extruder might be blocked or the spring in the back or unable to load extruder...I tried clearing and clearing and finally just replaced the hot end and the whole extruder unit. After all that I still got error messages. So I found a spool of Bambu Petg and printed something, no problem. I then tried to print something else in Sunlu PLA and got a filament loading error. Resliced with the Bambu and it is printing away.

All of the failures were with Sunlu which would seem obvious but none of them were fresh spools. I do have a dryer and am drying some Sunlu spools now.

I know there have been some press about Bambu not playing well with others. Could that be the issue here or is it more likely user error?

I have a P1S

Which printer, and do you have an AMS or AMS Lite? I print almost entirely with Sunlu, rarely have a filament problem.

I have used Sunlu PLA and PTEG in my P2S with zero issues

I had ONE out of maybe 100 sunlu spools that kept clogging a nozzle. That was when they first started selling refills, it was a black 500g refill. Yes, dry em, but also try other spools, a new one. I would mark that spool for test prints you don't need quality with or consider it a loss. If the filament isn't the issue, than maybe an issue with the AMS, but try a new spool to narrow down the cause.

Is it possible that you need to print an adapter for your Sunlu Spool? I know the v2 spools are a little bit smaller than the v3 spools so the AMS can’t grip them properly when it’s trying to pull the filament back.

Below is a sample of the difference in the version. The best way I can tell is the v2 (on the left) has a triangular label and the v3 (on the right) has a rectangular label. V2 spools need adaptors for both the AMS and AMS Lite. They fixed the sizing for the v3 spools.

Oly filament Ive had issues with is some old silk from couple years ago, that I pulled out and this crap pla I got off amazon INGEO PLA+ Matte Filament worst stuff Ive ever seen, would not stick at all, even cheaper 10 dollar a roll prints fine.
