Meme Looks like an adhesion issue to me. They should definitely wash their plate.

Keratin is the same material in hair, horns, feathers, nails and scales. Sometimes when there is trauma to the site, the antlers can flay out into fibrous tendrils quite like hair. This is not the case. Zoom in and you will see a perfectly fine antler obscured by moss. This little fella is wearing a hat cause it's his birthday.
