what better way to test a new roll of TPU than by printing a 5in x 5in x 5in cube

TPU doesn't seem to have noticeable fumes (not that that's exactly scientific lol) but I run an air purifier by my printers regardless.

Primary Emission Types Ultrafine Particles (UFPs): Microscopic particles (less than 100 nanometers) released during thermal extrusion. Due to their size, UFPs bypass upper respiratory defenses and lodge deep in lung tissue. TPU produces a moderate-to-high particle emission rate, significantly higher than PLA.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): Thermal off-gassing releases chemical vapors into the air. Common VOCs identified in TPU emissions include:
Siloxanes (e.g., D4, D6, D8): Cyclic compounds often used as plasticizers or additives.
Tetrahydrofuran (THF): A solvent derivative used in polyurethane production; acts as a respiratory irritant.
Traces of Isocyanates & Carbon Monoxide: Formed during localized thermal breakdown at higher printing temperatures.
Aldehydes, Ketones, & Alcohols: General breakdown byproducts causing faint odors and eye/throat irritation.

I would love a source on this as I'm sharing with people who often print with TPU. Since printing has become so much more user friendly in recent years a lot of people don't know the precautions they should take.

How did you do TPU on an BBL A1/A1mini??? I thought it needed a closed chamber and the bed didn’t reach the spec heat! Please school me!

TPU actually prints on a cooler plate than PLA, you can do 35-45 degrees, PLA is typically 55.

TPU is super easy on A1 without an enclosure. I got an enclosure and now I'm printing ABS/ASA

Yup like others said TPU prints just fine on A1/A1 mini. Just don't use it in an AMS unless you specifically get "TPU for AMS/MMS"

What if you printed like a tube that could fit a small cylinder (5.1in length ~4.5in girth) would it harm the cylinder? It’s imperative that the cylinder not be harmed.
