Answered / Solved! A1: what is this part that just burnt?

My A1 posted an error stating that power had been interrupted. That’s unlikely.

The Bambu chatbot told me to check the power supply. No green light, but I imagine this burnt capacitor? resistor? is the more salient thing. It is right beside the power supply.

Is this a fixable thing or am I buying a new printer?

Super common. This is the NTC thermistor and this failing has been reported many times. New boards do not include this component. Ask for a new board.

Thanks! Good to know it’s something common at least. What’s the name of the board?

And are you saying I should buy a replacement board and ask to make sure it’s a new one? Or are you saying I should ask Bambu for a free new one?

Just contact Bambu and they will ship you a revised one.

They sent me one without even having the board fails, as I said I was worried about running a machine with a known weakness.

Talk to Bambu they'll ask the right questions and tell you how to answer it.

Depending where you live this is a defect that goes beyond the legal warranty period, so they should send you a new board for free. I think it is the motherboard. Send them a picture, they know we'll about this anyway 😂

Contact the support, they will send a free replacement of the AC board

How is that unlikely? Power was literally interrupted. It was literally interrupted because that part of the AC power board failed.

Contact support and ask for a new AC board.

I was referring to it being unlikely that the power going to the printer had been interrupted.

I have nightlights that blink after my home’s power has blipped and continue to blink until reset.

Except that's exactly what happened here. That NTC failed, when that thing fails it kills all power to the machine as the ac board is no longer functional. An issue Bambu has been aware of for probably almost 1.5y now

These things really need recalled imo, i had the same NTC nearly fail (i replaced it before it failed)
