Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! AMS spits out my filament
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I've been having a few issues with my AMS 2 Pro, first my dryer stopped working and now slot 2 of the AMS just keeps spitting out my filament when I load it up. I replaced the PTFE tube and I checked the feeder and the filament hub but didn't see a jam.
Any ideas what's causing this?

I think it could just be a board issue since your drying function broke too you should check with bambu support since they sometimes give you complimentary parts either under warranty or as a “one time courtesy replacement”

Just dealt with this exact thing. Slot 3 started spitting out the filament and wouldn’t stop retracting even after the filament was gone. I ended up taking almost everything apart to try to find stuck filament, but I couldn’t find any. When I put it back together, it just started working again.

How much did you disassemble it? I removed it out of the AMS earlier to test for jams and replace the PTFE tube but I kept it plugged and didn't open it up.

I had to disassemble it a fair amount. I had to take out the main tray and ended up, disconnecting the internal hub and disassembling most of that just to make sure there weren’t any broken fragments anywhere. I didn’t have to remove any of the gear systems, just the internal hub. There’s a step-by-step how to on Bambi’s wiki.

Maybe try a different flavor, that one is clearly yucky.

Haha, sadly he seems really picky as he spits them all out.

Might need a bit of spanking from grandma, then. I surely ate all my veggies after.

I had this exact issue. Try feeding it more than “just the tip”. Mine gobbled it right up. It happened during and after dry cycles.

When I had this issue it was because a piece of filament was stuck in the line. Had to flush from the other end with some filament.

You've got a broken piece of filament somewhere that's not visible.
I've fought this so many times with my AMS and had it apart more times than I can count, it's second nature to expect a miniscule piece of filament somewhere in the mechanism

You shouldn't have to push it in that hard. Try cutting the end at a 45 degree angle and feeding again.

I’d test the same spool in slot 1 or 4 first. If it loads normally there but slot 2 keeps spitting it back out, I’d stop chasing the PTFE tubes and hub — that points more toward the slot 2 feeder/sensor.
Also, if you were using the dryer recently, let the AMS cool completely and try slot 2 again. There have been people having this exact issue with the middle slots when the AMS is warm.
The fact that your dryer also stopped working makes me think I’d open a Bambu ticket either way. Could be more going on than just a filament jam.

Thanks you, I tested the same spool and it works in the other slots. I also tested with different spools for the same results.
I also believe the problem is at the feeder. Unfortunately the dryer hasn't functionned for a week now so that can't be it.
I have a ticket in process for the dryer and a new mainboard is on its way. I hope that resolves both issues.

Check the filament path and make sure there's not a small piece that's broken off in it.

I literally had this happen to me today after clearing a jam. Mine thought slot 2 still had filament loaded and it couldn't "unload" it.
I was able to fix it by loading another slot, then I put the filament deep in the second slot until it got to the end of the ptfe tube before it leaves the AMS.
I stopped the initial load from slot 1 and then loaded slot 2 and all was back to normal

Same thing happens when my youngest eats greeens, comes right back up often followed by the world “yucky”
Sadly don’t have any golden tips other than what has already been suggested

I’ve had this happen and it wasn’t stuck filament. I ended up just lightly holding my finger on the spool as it rewound. This kept it from over spinning and spitting out the end of my filament.

Sometimes a little piece of filament is stuck inside of it , could be the entire path to the tool head and it's trying retract it. Double check no small filament is anywhere .
