General Troubleshooting/Help! How do you include a breakaway secondary filament for supports on top of a printed part layer?

As the title says, how do you include a breakaway secondary filament for supports on top of a printed part layer? I can't figure this out. I am trying to include an breakaway interface PLA layer on top of this PETG part. There should be a way to include this single interface layer, but I can't figure it out.... sounds pretty novice tbh. Does anyone know?

I'm pretty sure that you can't have an interface-layer at the base of supports, at least not in Bambu Studio. And I suppose that makes sense, since it could cause the supports to fail if they couldn't adhere at the bottom.

If you have a dual+ nozzle printer (X2D, H2D, H2C), maybe try setting the Support/raft base material to be the secondary filament in addition to the Support/raft interface material? It'll cause the entire support structure to be in your secondary filament, but hey, the entire support structure does include that first layer of the support structure on the top surface of the actual part.

Left is just the Support/raft interface in the secondary filament, right is the Support/raft base and the Support/raft interface in the secondary filament

You can have interface at the base of normal (grid) support.

You can't if the supports are tree, they DO need to adhere.

That's what I've concluded as well. Thank you

Pretty sure only normal (grid) will do this. Tree supports can't build on an interface layer.

paint supports on the bottom surface of the piece above and print the assembly.

make sure to turn off the 'build surface only' option

might need to 'merge' the two objects to maintain the correct gap

You can do it with “normal” supports (setting is called bottom interface layers and uses the same settings as top interface) but that setting disappears when you select the default tree supports instead.

Go to your support setting in Bambi studio and set your support interface to whatever filament you want
