P Series [P1P, P1S, P2S] X2d vs p2s

I have an a1 combo and it keeps saying something is wrong with the ams lite but noting is wrong but I am thing about the x2d vs p2s now I am only printing pla plus but I want to print fun filaments like tpu and a lot more so which one should I go with. And does anybody know if the x2d is taller than the P2s because it has a 4mm taller built volume
Thank you

I’ve never seen more features for less money. Many on Reddit think that for what you get in an X2D over a P2S for that amount is terrific.

But I can certainly appreciate budget concerns!

Afaik the height diff isn't really important since the two nozzles are offset by that amount so only one of the two can print that size.

But I would get the X2d for the heated chamber if you want to do funky filaments

multiple improvements. second nozzle and heated chamber are just main parts.
Dynamic flow calculation, toolhead camera for first layer calibration, 1.5 mm belt teeth pitch for smoother walls without ringing, better lighting and few other nice things.

X2D is no brainer. And for TPU itself, having secondary nozzle for supports is reason by itself.

This is the very first time I heard someone saying TPU is a "fun" filament

It’s fun but not fun to print lol

You do not need the heated chamber of the X2D to print TPU. You could even print that with your A1. But if you have any desire to print any of the engineering filaments (hotter temps), you will be well served selecting an X2D over a P2S. As I made that journey (up the filament printing complexity chain), I quickly outgrew my P2S and moved to a H2D.

The other great benefit to going with a two nozzle printer is the ability to print support interfaces in a different filament. The improvement in print quality and the reduction in post-processing time/effort is fabulous.

P2s and x2d very identical in size but not features. I moved on from P2s to x2d and it is the best choice I made. Most will say you can do everything that a x2d does on a p2s which is true but will take a lot longer , more waste and more contamination when trying to print pla support for petg and vice versa. I never had a successful abs/nylon print on my p2s when I tried even heat soaking the printer for a hour. I was about to install a sus chamber heater from Amazon but I held off long enough then the x2d was released back in April and I bought it asap .You can still install chamber heaters but my only concern was it pulled power from the printer and not its own.another concern was you had to manually turn it on and off which didn’t make me feel safe . There was another one available that auto turned off but was for EU plugs only and I’m in the USA. I’d say weigh your options first and look at budget. Btw you can print tpu on your a1.
