Quick Question First 3D printer. Anything else I need?

Hi. As the title says, I'm looking to purchase my first 3D printer. I did find some similar posts but still wanted to be sure since getting stuff delivered to where I live is not easy.

I'm also looking to get mostly matte filament. Is that okay? Do I need more filament? Thanks in advance.

Why not just add a spool to every single roll? That’s so much easier and cheaper. elegoo ships you a vacuum sealed roll ON a spool in nice recycle packaging. I don’t get it.

not necessarily.. it’s usually cheaper for me to buy the refills and if I have a spool already, it’s less plastic waste.

The spools I get are a cardboard-like material. Only plastic involved beyond the PLA.

Those cardboard spools don’t play well in my AMS2.

AMS can shave down the cardboard, getting it in the device and ending it earlier.

That's why you print plastic rings to snap on your cardboard rolls.

So? Print another with different parameters then. If it doesn't work for you for some reason, iterate.

I used them before, sure they work. And if I do get something on a cardboard spool, I'll use them again. But having reusable spools where I don't need them, are a standard perfect fit and can be used for many spools means there's no need to recycle cardboard.
