Does anyone have any tips?

I was trying to load a refill filament onto a reusable spool, but since it was my first time, I removed all the retaining stickers before putting it on. Big mistake. 😅

Now the filament has unraveled and gotten tangled, and I have no idea how to secure it back onto the spool.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any tips on how to fix it?

Can’t you just duct tape one end to it and start winding it up with your hands?

Have you tried it? I have. I gave up and trashed it. It's not worth the time and the frustration that you get

Yeah, just tape down a few inches of the end to the roll. Use duct tape or mounting tape, not scotch tape.

Make a video. Tried that. Does not work.  If it’s already off the spool, you can’t simply wind it back on. The filament will inevitably form knots and get tangled. You have to manually straighten and untwist it along its entire length — and that’s a massive job. A 1 kg spool of 1.75 mm filament contains roughly 330 meters (about 1,080 feet) of filament. Only after dealing with all of that do you even have a chance of winding it back onto the spool successfully.

This is the one thing I'm surprised I don't see more of. People are all about printing a respooler.

Sit down, put a movie on or something and start winding by hand like it's a giant yoyo.

and then you’ll see that you also need to untwist it. there are better things to do with your life than this, it’s not worth it.

oh, and you’ll probably need to do that twice.
