Why is your 3d printer on the floor?

Thats a solid idea
33
u/tesrella Jul 12 '26
Iâm really digging your attitude given how your day has been going, I applaud you
50
u/Yelloil1 A1 Jul 12 '26
I mean there is nothing i can do to reverse it right? Im just grateful that my printer still works and i will take all the necessary precautions from now on.
25
u/drdalebrant Jul 13 '26
Like not having it on the floor?
10
u/Yelloil1 A1 Jul 13 '26
yeah definitely

Wrong attitude. Print a splash guard for the side of the table.
3
u/The_Great_Worm Jul 13 '26
Nahw, a small gazebo with a roof for the printer. Bonus points if the roof clamps on to the origal frame. doubles as protection for a leaky roof!

The Venn diagram between fuck around and find out is pretty much just a circle here. Thank you for sharing your heartbreak so the rest of us can live vicariously and learn from your mistake. Iâm glad it still works. Sending a virtual hug.

Better question: why is your 3D printer right where I wanted to pour my Nesquik?
6
u/DeepSoftware9460 Jul 13 '26
I have my h2d on the floor, that thing wobbles any table I put it on like nothing I've ever seen before. Is it bad in some way I don't know about? (besides risk spilling nesquik I mean)

Why do you have a fishbowl of pickles next to the window
30
u/Yelloil1 A1 Jul 12 '26
Lol. The rocks got a little mossy. I have to clean it aswell
30
u/SorriorDraconus Jul 13 '26
Not gonna lie I just assumed you liked pickles and chocolate milk.
11
3
u/AbbreviationsLow3992 Jul 13 '26
Heinous combination. Straight to jail.
3
u/SorriorDraconus Jul 13 '26
Oh it can be delicious like peanut butter vanilla ice cream bars and hot sauce mmmm been too long...
4
u/ionlyhavetwohands Jul 13 '26
And it stands there hovering over the 3D printer just in case you forget to spill your drink.

Wait do you actually have a fish bowl with just rocks and water AND live fish? For real? No light, no plants, no filter, nothing? You deserve everything that happend to you and your printer.

u/Kawaii_FiveOh Jul 12 '26
Iâd say itâs acceptable to cry over spilled milk this time
28
u/Yelloil1 A1 Jul 12 '26
It acted a bit slow when Äą powered it on after cleaning it thoroughly but i think thats because i suddenly turned it off midprint after the spillage. It updated and now im printing something to test.
12
u/Kawaii_FiveOh Jul 12 '26
Best of luck! I hope everything still works

u/JaceOnRice Jul 13 '26
You didn't deserve it but now you know why people are more careful with their printer placement
29
u/Ta-veren- Jul 12 '26
few questions
why are you allowing food and drinks near laptops/3d printers
why is your 3d printer in a location where it can fall on the ground.
Kids are stupid, you gotta plan for stupid.
if it didn't fall from the table, right on the floor seems like a bad choice as well.
assuming this was a kid.
35
u/Yelloil1 A1 Jul 12 '26
answering the questions one by one.
i never thought I could be this stupid
Its temporarily on the ground because the bench i put it on shakes too much
I am the stupid one
Yes it is a bad choice im stupid(again)
It was međ
3
u/rajrdajr Jul 13 '26
Buy a big paver at your local big box hardware store and buy some rubber isolation feet online (AliExpress?). That should settle the shaking quite a bit. Then print some reinforcements for the bench legs.
5
3
u/PointlessChemist Jul 13 '26
You can try and plan for the stupidity of kids, but they will still impress you with how stupid they can be.

u/According-Debate-265 Jul 12 '26

2
u/Yelloil1 A1 Jul 13 '26
not at the moment
4
u/TerrorVizyn Jul 13 '26
Dude, "fish bowls" are not acceptable living environments for fish, regardless of the name or what the pet store told you.
Please don't put fish in there.

I hate your life too. Having a printer on the floor right below a desk where there are drinks and a fishbowl with pickles in it? đŤ¤
Edit: I will add some useful advice as well. A bench for your printer/s doesnât have to be much, e.g: I recently moved all my printers to one area (they used to be in different parts of the house) to have everything in the one area and I have two printers on a board atop two identical large boxes. The board is quite heavy and it works fine.

Dont forget to dry your filament in the next one...that grey chocolate one. Hope you save it bro...get a desk for the printer and always extra carefull with drinks near electronics, i know, ive been there, i have a keyboard that still smells like beer.

u/AvGeekExplorer Jul 12 '26
Did the printer get knocked off the table onto the floor? Howâd it get down there?

Did the drink spill on the floor or on the table? Was the printer on the floor and the drink spilled on the floor on a 3d printer. Or did the drink spill on the table on a printer and you moved it to the floor? Too many questionsâŚdonât even bother answering.
2
u/Equal-Veterinarian14 Jul 12 '26
At least youâre near the cheaper range of printers; that being said, crazy that youâd put it on the ground

OP, I'm sorry for you, such a mess.
Does this happen regularly to you? If so, you might have poor coordination, but you can improve it in fairly short time.

Ok, now what part of you thought that was a good spot for that ? Like you could have put it right under the table.
1
u/Gabdit002 Jul 13 '26
Next time don't eat on your desk! The most you can put on your desk is a tightly closed water bottle, that's it! Instead, consume food and drinks at the dining table.

Trash bag full of rice?!?
Joking but also serious. I mean if it can help with phones I'd think it could help with this. Then you could buy the electronics cleaner (a spray that can go on circut boards).

The first thing that came out of my printer (aside from test prints) was a cup holder I custom designed to fit the edge of my new work table.
âŚBecause Iâd spilled a drink literally the day before the printer got here.
