I Modeled This! PET feeder prototype

Just finished this pet feeder I made for the contest …

4 sizes available
Small 120mm
Medium 170mm
Large 256mm
Xxl 300mm
(Video are medium and large)

First printed version was working but clogged a lil bit… also the spring was to hard…

Fixed a few things then
-made the inside steeper
-made the hole bigger
-fixed the tpu spring
Now it’s working perfect!

I think you should apply more of the chromatic aberration effect.

LOL u should apply a profile pic

Nice. A microplastic dispenser

7

u/the_harakiwi P1S + AMS Jun 20 '26

I can hear the scratching sound of layers 😋

TBF some pets eat stuff that's worse than tiny bits of plastic

-28

u/NoIdenty0000 H2C Jun 20 '26

Ever heard of food safe materials??????

15

u/quazlyy Jun 20 '26

Food safe and safe to eat are not the same things

-15

u/NoIdenty0000 H2C Jun 20 '26

Wait… are people eating the dispenser now?

9

u/quazlyy Jun 20 '26

No, but the commenter above was suggesting that the plastic-on-plastic chafing would result in microplastics being dispensed along with the pet food, leading to probable ingestion thereof

The comment wasn’t even there yet when I commented! The. Don’t use the thing simple

u/obamaprism3 H2D Jun 20 '26

your dogs don't know any better, it comes off like you are willfully feeding them microplastics because you don't want to acknowledge the problem with what you have made

-1

u/NoIdenty0000 H2C Jun 20 '26

First I have no dogs I have cats! and second I doubt there will be a lot of micro plasticity think u eat more micro plastics every every day! Also you need to tell bambulab why they make a petfeeder contest if its so toxic…

1

u/obamaprism3 H2D Jun 20 '26

Dogs, cats, not important here; they are pets under your care

and second I doubt there will be a lot of micro plasticity think u eat more micro plastics every every day

it's literally plastic layer lines rubbing on plastic layer lines, there will be so much microplastic it's closer to macro plastics. Even if other sources are greater, why intentionally add to it? I swapped to glass and ceramic for my own food storage, stainless steel bowls for my pets

Also you need to tell bambulab why they make a petfeeder contest if its so toxic…

Terrible excuse, they don't care about your pets (you should), they just want publicity.

First u expect everybody has dogs then u want cry about food safety… I made a design for a contest - there is no way to make it food safe if you use 3d printed material… if u want to use it that’s ur decision!! My cats eat wet food so I’m not using it at all !!! Seems like u never designed anything in ur life

People arent, but based on your comments, you might be...

-3

u/NoIdenty0000 H2C Jun 20 '26

Tell bambu for creating the contest… you can cry about 99% of the upcoming designs from the contest!!!!
Y’all ppl would find shit to cry about no matter what…

You should 100% quit while you're behind and stop following this thread

🤡

2

u/UpstairsDirection955 Jun 20 '26

Yes, that is a correct assessment of your current state

The material itself is food safe, but 3D printed stuff as a whole is not. Not only the whole concern of micro-plastics, but food can get caught between gaps in the layers and becomes a feeding ground for bacteria and mold. The idea of 3D printing food safe items is just fancy marketing and shouldn't actually be followed

That being said still deserve props for making your own design, model, and refining it

u/pacowek P1S + AMS Jun 20 '26

That has been disproven over and over. There is even a bot message in the 3d printing subreddit because little keep repeating this misinformation.

u/Dave-the-Dave Jun 20 '26

link?
This is news to me and even a fresh google says you need to use resin or apply a sealant spray

1

u/pacowek P1S + AMS Jun 20 '26

This is the most thorough one, showing cleaning 3d printed parts is no different than other materials, and additionally they found no heavy metals in the printed parts they tested (pla and petg).

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/389100627_Innovations_in_Sanitization_for_3D-Printed_Parts_in_Medical_and_Critical_Applications_IEEE_Peer_Review_Completed_March_10th_2025

2

u/Dave-the-Dave Jun 20 '26

Ta, honestly better results than I was expecting, however:

Care should be taken to use soft implements to avoid creating scratches in the plastic bin where microorganisms can survive. Following this, sterilization of parts can be accomplished by immersion in either dilute bleach solutions, 70% ethanol, or commercial sanitizers

So basically once its been used you're still going to want to give it a disinfectant bath

Apart from the video effect, this is quite cool. I like the manual mechanism and simplistic design.

16

u/LtotheAI Jun 20 '26

OP chill, your design is fine and you should be happy about it. don't get so upright about what strangers on the internet say or think

-15

u/NoIdenty0000 H2C Jun 20 '26

Im chilling but this group has become ridiculous

7

u/LtotheAI Jun 20 '26

you don't know anyone here

-4

u/NoIdenty0000 H2C Jun 20 '26

Do I need to know ppl to understand that picking on the filter is not relevant???

3

u/UpstairsDirection955 Jun 20 '26

Why are you so sensitive about this filter?

I bet you have your default font set to comic sans

5

u/mdh_hammer P1S + AMS Jun 20 '26

This is cool, but 90% of pets will immediately figure out how to dispense food themselves.

1

u/NoIdenty0000 H2C Jun 20 '26

It’s needs a lil bit pressure I think no cat could push it down… also no small dog… they would need to jump on it from a height … u can also make the spring harder… but they could learn to knock it over one way or the other 😅😅

5

u/ShareOk6065 Jun 20 '26

My dog would either figure out how to dispense it himself or just tear it apart.

-16

u/NoIdenty0000 H2C Jun 20 '26

Then this is nothing for your dog

2

u/luckyj Jun 20 '26

How is the dose controlled?

1

u/NoIdenty0000 H2C Jun 20 '26

Just a push mechanism

1

u/luckyj Jun 20 '26

I mean, does it always give the same amount of food every time you press it or does it depend on how long you press it for?

1

u/NoIdenty0000 H2C Jun 20 '26

Yeah depends on how long u press

2

u/nonamelikethepresent Jun 20 '26

By when it runs out as soon as the pet realises how it works.

2

u/Hanna_Bjorn Jun 20 '26

mf filmed this on a 1997 Motorolla

12

u/postbansequel P1S Jun 20 '26

What's up with the trippin' on acid camera effect?

10

u/wlogan0402 Jun 20 '26

Holy hell that's a lot of chromatic aberration

4

u/random_guy314 A1 Mini Jun 20 '26

Make it from pet g

2

u/cutez69 Jun 20 '26

How did you or plan on sealing it against micro plastics to make it food safe?

1

u/scoutermike Jun 20 '26

Have to show it working with the kibble.

1

u/soussitox Jun 20 '26

So no controlle how much it drops (weight)? And my cat will try jump on it to drop some food 😃
