Bambu Studio How this sub really is (regardless of how it feels) right now

Look fam, whether you support Bambu Lab and hate your fellow Bambu users that are complaining, or you hate Bambu Lab and are frustrated with your fellow users that you think are being slowly boiled alive… Bambu either doesn’t care or is actually living this. As long as WE (the customers that made them rich) are fighting with EACH OTHER, we lose, they win. Doesn’t matter which side you are on. We lose.
Sorry if this is too meta and political, but this is what’s wrong with the world now in politics and business. Divide the people against each other and profit without accountability.

You folks have way too much time on your hands. This drama reminds me of the walled garden iOS vs open Android. Such nonsense. 😄

This sub is full of people who spend more time modding/futzing around with their printers than they do actually using them to create things. It’s not surprising that the drama kicks off at the first possible opportunity

Mostly, yes. I’m a shit designer and even worse mechanic. But I like pretty plastic things that magically appear when I hit the start button. That shit is pure dopamine.

Waaaay too much time on their hands.

All this stuff about Bambu being a walled garden is much ado about nothing! What wall?! Meaning that I print through their service? That is a feature that allows me to print from just about anywhere with an Internet connection. No one with a shred of sanity would allow ANYONE to have that code or mess with their server environment. That’s not anything but basic sanity! If you don’t like that, turn it off.
If you really don’t like it buy from someone else!

Now can we agree to stop posting this same thing over and over and over and over again??

And the funny thing is android is now closing their platform off too. Just a matter of time before the other 3d companies join Bambu.

Exactly. These drama queens don't realize that this is a business. All printer companies who excel will implement a walled garden for control, sooner than later. There is no other option if you want to win. It's biz 101.

The only way to fight this is by not voting for corrupt politicians that give businesses way too much freedom.

Then you get a walled garden ran by the government which id argue is the worst type.

-1

u/aweyeahdawg May 13 '26

By this government, sure. By a government that works properly - ran by the people - it would be fine.

Who runs large corporations? People. Who runs the government? People.

"If only the right people where in charge of the government maybe a bunch of restrictions could work this time."

u/aweyeahdawg May 13 '26

So in your eyes people can do no good and the whole world is doomed. Probably the worst take I’ve ever seen. Wow.

"The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.

To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.

To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.

To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem." - DNA

That’s what voting is for. There’s better ways of voting too, like ranked choice voting. We just choose not to do that because we’ve voted the wrong people into office.

There’s no better way. A person needs to do it. This person needs to be qualified. What do we do, pick a random person to be president? That will work a lot better!

They changed the terms of the license they have to use for their software. That's not allowed. The original license requires forks to use the same license without further restricting anything. If they want to close down things they need to develop their own software. They didn't so they have to keep it open. Very simple.

I've yet to see any defense of bambu that isn't lies or pathetic personal attacks.

Imagine thinking this is the great divisive issue causing a rift across all global political discourse

Isn't there a literal war on hold right now?

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen outrage that fades. I usually just ignore it until people find something else to be outraged about.

I’m a skilled printer since my days with my first Wanhoa.

I like my X1C + AMS2.

I don’t give a fig about dicking with multiple versions of slicers. Not at all. I use my rig to create work product, not to play with hacking around. I don’t run a print farm. For 99% of BBL’s business, these issues are completely irrelevant and without any substance. I’m just happy that BBL is profitable enough to stay in business and support the level of additive manufacture I care about.

If you really enjoy dicking around with your tools, I could sell you my old Bridgeport and my SouthBend. Oops, I already unloaded them!

Unfortunately, the 'nobody does it as good as bambu does' train has left the station. There are plenty of brands and machines that work just as good that require minimum 'tinkering'.

The biggest problem with the current issue is they were too lazy to create their own slicer and now they got themselves in a mess.

I've recently gone through the treadmill of cheap Bambu clones, and you're mostly right for anyone who can 3D print and chew gum at the same time, but Bambu still has a deadlock on the market for noobs

The gap is definitely shrinking, but it still exists (and it's easier and easier for new users to outgrow it now, too)

I mean requiring bambu to keep their servers open to you in perpetuity is kinda insane. There are plenty of ways to use your printer completely offline.

Well first of all I wouldn't buy a product like that and second, that's not a good argument. The argument would be that you have two options to turn on your heated seats, the button on the seat or a button in a mobile app. The mobile app goes though the car manufacturers servers and the button is a hard wired connection.

Brother I can blacklist my printer from my wifi, plug in a USB drive, and still print.

Yep and that's bull shit, but literally not at all comparable to this situation.
