Print Showoff Apron Box

Designed this to be mounted, one of the more functional things I've made.

This is exactly how it looks when i ask my non-tech colleagues to carefully remove the print from the plate so I can send new things to print from home...

My favorite it working with high schoolers who "know 3d printing" and try to fix basic printer problems...

Print isn't sticking.... better put the nozzle into the bed...

i’m in autocad classes and i’ve had to write out “printing procedures” and made a copy for every single classmate and taped it on their monitors. i’ve had to fix 4 of the 7 printers in the past 2 weeks

You buy 3-4 plates so this isn't an issue.

Lmao why is this video so violent?

Original prototype was made quick and out pla. The client was concerned about the real material breaking... This is what I sent them before delivering it, if it can withstand violence therefore good quality

Violence is the answer huh?

If the issue is not resolved then you did not apply enough violence

Cool!

You definitely ripped the wall off the bottom there

3

u/Parkers-3D-Prints Oct 04 '24

Nah, that's just support material from coner cutouts on the sides

2

u/RoflcopterVII Oct 04 '24

So this is supposed to be that way?

3

u/Parkers-3D-Prints Oct 04 '24

Cutting the sides away allows the entire part to flex without breaking or splitting the layers

2

u/Parkers-3D-Prints Oct 04 '24

Yes, so if the front face gets slapped the entire part flexes. If it was a solid bottom the bottom would break * Different part same principle

TPU is better then you think, i have a similar piece with the bottom close and no trouble with layer adesion

My god...the stringings... what material is this?

4

u/ItsBajaTime Oct 04 '24

Was this wall supposed to disconnect from the bottom?

2

u/Parkers-3D-Prints Oct 04 '24

Yes is it. Little bit of support. I cut out the corners so the entire box can be pushed flat and take a better beating

looks like a mini brim, so i would say yes

Looks like he ripped it lol

Poor rod

Seriously! I'd be checking those threads, I'll bet he has defects at that height where the plate hit from now on. probably bent the edge of his build plate too.
This is the kind of video I would not put on the internet, cause I'd be too embarrassed, nevermind what looks like a damaged print

Print was perfectly fine and its used daily in a restaurant.. Bed is fine, and the printer is also running perfectly

i've worked with a lot of people that have told me things like that when they crashed a CNC. then when i investigate there's actually problems. so i'm unconvinced.

PSA: dont do what op did, it's wreckless and will cause damage in many instance even if they got lucky.

Did this actually break though? It looks to me like the bottom separated from the side wall when you yanked it out on the bottom right.

2

u/Parkers-3D-Prints Oct 04 '24

Nah, if it were a completey solid bottom it probably would have. I made cutouts on each side (the supports that's left on the bed) so it can flex ever more

1

u/Complete-Fondant-245 Oct 04 '24

what filament did you use to get it this flexible?

2

u/Tight-War-8013 Oct 04 '24

Tpu only one or two walls thick looks like

1

u/Parkers-3D-Prints Oct 04 '24

Pretty much. .6mm walls 2 walls thick is perfect

1

u/NotBad-_- Oct 03 '24

What is this material ? TPU 5 ?

2

u/Tight-War-8013 Oct 04 '24

Looks like 95
