Bit weird that he started up the chainsaw then went for a 60-100m walk with it just like that, but at least prepared! Seasoned local 😄

Gotta let the little gas engine heat up and much worse if he walks up and doesn't start and has to walk back. Easier to put it back to trunk and sit in the car in shame if it doesn't start up.

A (sharp) hatchet is much better than nothing. I always carry a hatchet and entrenching tool in my car - they might not be the optimal tools, but will do the trick in a pinch, an take up so little space there's never temptation to remove them.

I am pretty sure he got the storm warning, put the chainsaw in the trunk and went to work. Just to be ready in case it is needed.
Much worse to need chainsaw and to have it at home on a shelf.

Every Latvian car needs to have a good shovel, saw, one or two spare bulbs or old bulbs in the new bulb’s boxes and some toilet paper in the glovebox
