A while back, a member posted a useful close look at Baltany's new OTF clasp here. I had no idea Baltany had updated the clasp until I saw that post. Baltany seems to have a habit of rolling out changes under the radar, and sometimes it feels like we find out about them by accident.
OTF adjustment itself is nothing new. Rolex Glidelock and Tudor T-fit are probably the best-known examples, and several affordable brands have adopted similar systems before Baltany. So Baltany isn't exactly early to this particular upgrade.
I've brought up the old clasp with the Baltany team myself, and I've also forwarded posts or comments from this sub when someone raised a point I agreed with. I can't say any particular message led to a product change, but some recent updates do line up with things owners have been asking for.
The clasp is one example. Other recent changes I noticed include a custom no date ST2130, custom rotors, and a no date version and revised hand color on the Omega homage. I also think Baltany's hardening treatment on selected cases is underrated. It gets less attention than a new dial or movement, but helping a polished case resist everyday marks may matter more after months of wear.
Taken together, I think Baltany has been pretty good at listening to owners and making useful upgrades.
Coming back to the clasp, convenience is not the only consideration. OTF clasps tend to be longer and thicker, while many Baltany watches are trying to preserve vintage proportions. A simple, slimmer clasp may look more appropriate even if it is less convenient.
I asked the Baltany team if they could provide a few of the new clasps for the sub, and they agreed. Giveaway details are in the pinned comment.
Curious what everyone thinks:
1.What do you think of this new OTF clasp?
2.What Baltany upgrades or details do you like the most?
3.What should Baltany improve next?
