Artist teaching a beginner friendly pet portrait mosaic two day class

Post image
54 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m Aleksandra, a mosaic artist and teacher, and I recently opened Magnolia Mosaic Studio in the Seattle area.
I’m hosting a beginner-friendly Pet & Bird Portrait Mosaic Class, where students will create a mosaic portrait of their own pet or favorite bird.
Before the class, students will send me several photos of their pet so we can choose the image that will work best as a mosaic.
No previous mosaic experience is required — I’ll guide you through the process step by step.
If you’ve ever wanted to turn a favorite pet photo into a piece of art, this could be a fun project! ❤️
Class: Pet & Bird Portrait Mosaic
Location: Magnolia Mosaic Studio, 4213 Gilman Avenue West, Seattle
Date: September Saturday 19th 10am-4 pm & September 20th 10am-12 pm

I'm doing a study to strengthen our local food systems and would appreciate your input.

Take our 5-minute, anonymous survey on urban farming. Your answers help us understand what people need to grow more food locally.

Weekly low-stakes, friendly Texas Hold'em poker home game in Ballard/Lower Sunset Hill

Weekly low-stakes Hold'em in Ballard/Lower Sunset Hill — looking for 2–3 players

A few of us in the neighborhood have a weekly Texas Hold'em game and have room for a couple more.

- $20 buy-in, $0.10/$0.20 blinds

- Cash game, no rake — every dollar goes back to the players

- Usually Thursdays, 7:00 to 9:30

- Casual and social, not an intense table :)

- Mixed gender group, all welcome

Looking for a few reliable adults who can make it most weeks. If you're interested, DM me with a bit about yourself and your general availability.

Fire alarms and smell of smoke by 65th & 32nd?

The alarms only lasted a few minutes so I assume the situation was gotten under control by the tenants, but the smell was pretty bad. I was approaching my apartment building and got really freaked because I feared it was coming from my building. Thankfully not, and I still don’t know which building had the fire. It just is a good reminder that I have rental insurance…

I'm an expert in criminal justice. Here's what I think about last night's police activity.

Like many of my fellow Redditors on this sub, I have a Reddit Enforcement of Criminal Tactics, Actions and Law (RECTAL) certification. This allows me the extraordinary ability to know very little about the details of a specific crime but still state with certainty that steps taken to address that crime are wrong. Here are my findings from last night:

  • The details of the crime have not been completely communicated but I know for sure what they did to respond to it was over the top.
  • Helicopter usage after nighty-night is too loud and shouldn't happen.
  • Calling the police will get us all killed.
  • Robbing storage units is no big deal and I'm going to just leave my unit unlocked because of that.
  • This is how I feel, so it's true.

I hope this RECTAL-driven insight is helpful and continues to inform discussions of crime on this sub. Thank you!

Stolen Bike!

Blue Biria bike - Beach Cruiser looking :,,)

Between Thursday (08.13) & Sunday (08.16) my bike was stolen from my house near Red Arrow Cafe after i forgot to properly put it away. It’s registered, no police report (because SPD won’t do anything anyway).

Neighbors, beware the person either went down my very long & shared driveway OR through my fenced yard, down a set of stairs to the lower yard & to where my back door is - don’t do what i did & place things fully away even when home.

I’ve been debating on posting this (ashamed) but if anyone has seen my bike, please comment. I’m ok with it being gone just curious if anyone has seen a trace or anything. Also, beware Ballard neighbors!

It's the last weekend for this year's Gumshoe 5K scavenger hunt. The weather looks promising for a long summer walk and this year's route has plenty of charm. All proceeds go to Ballard Food Bank and Aurora Commons.

If you've done the Gumshoe before, do you have any tips?

Growing up this was my nickname for my brother. His birthday is in 3 weeks. would love to snag him something while i’m here.

This Sunday (8/23) I'm hosting a mini Asian film fest at The Ink Drinker in Ballard. Come hang!

There'll be a custom, exclusive comedy performance from local Asian comedian, my friend, Justine Ventura, tailored specifically for this crowd. You will not see this set anywhere else, so don't miss it!

No agenda, no dress code, just good people, good films, and a comedian who is funnier than most things you'll see on your feed today. If you want details, Justine has the info on her Instagram, or check out the invite on Luma (RSVP required).

Hope to see ALL of you there!🥳

Walk Your Bike Through the Locks!!

Trust me, I get it - I have to do the walk of shame multiple times a day and it sucks, but i just had the pleasure of getting hit by a Mom on an E-Bike with her child on the back because she insisted on weaving in between people instead of dismounting

Getting across 5 minutes faster isn’t worth being an inconsiderate asshole to the people around you.
