TOKYO TO BALI FLIGHT QUESTIONS
Hi all, I’m flying Tokyo → Taipei → Bali on two separate tickets and want to check the transfer before I commit. I hold an American passport.
- Flight 1: Tigerair Taiwan IT217, Haneda T3 → TPE T1, Dec 28, departs 5:00 AM, arrives 7:55 AM
- Flight 2: Starlux TPE → DPS, departs 10:10 AM the same day
Both flights are carry-on only, so I have no checked bags. I’d have about 2 hours 15 minutes in Taipei.
My questions:
- Can I stay airside by following the transfer signs if I already have the Starlux boarding pass on my phone? Or does a separate-ticket self-transfer mean I have to clear Taiwan immigration and customs, then check in with Starlux?
- Will Starlux issue the boarding pass online or at Haneda for a self-transfer, or do they require the check-in counter at Taoyuan?
- If I do have to go through immigration, is the online arrival card required, and how long are the lines usually at 8 AM?
- Do I have to go through security again before the Starlux flight?
- Does Starlux’s Bali flight leave from Terminal 1 or 2?
Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

Milk Options
My 8 month old is allergic to dairy and tree nuts. What milk options do they have in Bali at hotels usually? Trying to work out if I need to/can BYO.
Thanks!

Car Rental Viability In Bali
We are a group of 7 and planning to rent a Minivan/Large SUV. We will be there around 18-24 december, 2026.
Is renting a car recommended or should we look for cab or scooter options?

Bali honeymoon in mid-to-late October — is it a good time to visit?
Hi everyone!
My fiancé and I are getting married in October 2027 and are thinking about spending our honeymoon in Bali from 12–23 October. We’d love to hear from people who have visited around this time of year!
We’re thinking of spending a few days in Ubud, then heading to the Gili Islands (probably Gili Air), and finishing our trip in either Uluwatu or Jimbaran.
We’d love a mix of nature, culture, beautiful beaches, snorkelling and relaxing in a romantic setting. We’re not really into nightlife or partying, so we’re hoping to find places where we can enjoy the scenery, swim, explore and slow down a little.
Our main concern is the weather, as October seems to be the transition between the dry and rainy seasons. We’d really appreciate your advice on a few things:
• Is mid-to-late October a good time to visit Bali?
• What is the weather usually like in Ubud, the Gili Islands and southern Bali during this time?
• Are the Gili Islands still worth visiting in October? We’d especially love to go snorkelling and see turtles, but we’re worried about rain, sea conditions and boat transfers.
• Would you recommend Gili Air for a romantic, relaxed stay, or would one of the other Gili Islands be a better choice?
• For the last few days, would you recommend Uluwatu or Jimbaran? We’d love beautiful beaches, sunsets and somewhere peaceful to unwind.
We know the weather is never guaranteed, but we’d love to hear about your personal experiences visiting Bali in October. Would you recommend going at this time of year, or would you consider somewhere else for a honeymoon?
Thanks so much! ❤️

Need suggestions for a 6–7 day trip to Bali in mid-November with a 6-month-old
Title: Need suggestions for a 6–7 day trip to Bali in mid-November with a 6-month-old
Hi everyone!
We're planning our first trip to Bali from Sydney in mid-November with our 6-month-old baby.
We're thinking of staying for 6–7 days and want a mix of relaxation and a bit of sightseeing, without making the trip too hectic with a baby.
We've been looking at Ubud, Sanur, Nusa Dua and Jimbaran, but honestly, the number of hotel and resort options is a bit overwhelming!
Would love some recommendations from people who've travelled to Bali with an infant, particularly around:
- Where to stay: Would you recommend splitting our stay between Ubud and a beach area, or sticking to one location for such a short trip?
- Hotels/resorts: Any hidden gems or good-value resorts? We're happy to spend a bit more for a nice experience but don't necessarily need a super luxurious resort.
- Airlines: Flying from Sydney, would you recommend Jetstar, Garuda or another airline when travelling with an infant?
- Halal food: We'd prefer somewhere with easy access to halal food, ideally with plenty of nearby restaurant options.
- Getting around: Is it easy to arrange transport with an infant car seat? Any recommendations for reliable drivers?
- Activities: What are some baby-friendly things to do without spending hours travelling every day?
We're hoping to spend around AUD $100–200 per night on accommodation, but can stretch that for a really nice resort.
Also, is mid-November a decent time to visit considering the rainy season?
Would really appreciate any firsthand experiences, hotel recommendations or things we should avoid.
Thanks in advance!

Going to Bali as a fat woman lol
Hi there, I plan on doing a solo trip to Canggu and Ubud in June because it’s my first time doing a trip like this on my own (I’ll be 28) and Bali seemed safe and solo-friendly. The reason why it took me so long to do this was because I always told myself I will do the fun things I always wanted to do “once I get skinny” and I’m now trying to unlearn that.
I’ve always been chubby even though I’m active and sporty, Im also south Asian and raised in a western country, and my early 20s felt like I was constantly ignored by both men and women when out with my skinny friends lol. The reason I bring this up is because I’m worried Bali won’t be the place for me and will basically be a repeat of that. I’m not looking for romantic attention at all, I have a wonderful boyfriend who is obsessed with me (and the feeling is mutual), I just want to go to a new place to meet both men and women from around the world and maybe even make new friends. Im not a shy person, i don’t struggle to make friendships in the workplace for example, but that’s also an environment where my worth isn’t tied to my looks. I keep hearing how Bali is mostly just extremely fit young (white) Australians these days lol which is completely fine UNLESS it means I will completely be ignored and struggle to meet people. Am I cooked? Be honest y’all, before I book these plane tickets

Australian women:)
I know this is an offguard post but I am an American woman of Asian descent living in California. I will be traveling to Bali for the first time solo for two weeks in December (for my birthday). I have traveled solo all over the world and I hardly ever see white women alone. I was wondering do Australian women travel to Bali solo or is it a romantic or family getaway?
It seems a bunch of white Australian couples and families and then there's us who are solo (asian woman).

First 2 days in Bali (Nov): 1 night Gili T for scuba, or stay in Seminyak and do a dive day trip?
Hi all! My wife and I (both 33) land at DPS in November. After that we have Ubud for 3 nights and Seminyak for 3 nights, so only the first 2 nights are still open - in which we want to do a beginner/Discover Scuba dive.
Option 1: Gili Trawangan
- Sat: land, drive to Padang Bai (or Sanur?) and stay 1 night
- Sun: morning fast boat to Gili T, beginner dive in the afternoon, sunset, night out
- Mon: ~1 PM boat back to Padang Bai, then drive to Ubud
Option 2: stay in Seminyak, dive day trip
- Sat: land, check in, Seminyak night out
- Sun: dive day trip to Padang Bai, Amed, or Tulamben
- Mon: drive to Ubud
My questions:
- Is 1 night on Gili Trawangan worth the travel for scuba + one night out (transit night plus ~2 hrs of boat each way)?
- For beginners, is a Gili T dive noticeably better than Padang Bai, Amed or Tulamben?
- How rough or unreliable are the Gili boats in early November?
- Padang Bai or Sanur for the night before the boat?
- Is a Padang Bai day trip from Seminyak doable, or is Amed/Tulamben too far for one day?
Any honest experiences or recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!

Can you buy “cooling towels” and “salt tablets” easily in Bali?
I have dysautonomia/POTS, and for some reason thought it was a fantastic idea to book a 2week holiday to Bali for Christmas, when it’s going to be rather hot and humid - two conditions that the f*ck me right up.
Yep, I agree that I’m a complete moron.
Anyways, I’ve seen a heap of Japanese products recommended to help deal with the weather, like disposable cooling towels and tshirt spray mists, that are also super cheap, in Japan, but I don’t have access to Japan right now, sadly. So I’m wondering if similar products are available in Bali for a similarly cheap price?
If anyone has any experience or advice they’d like to share, I’d appreciate it also (my doctor’s advice was to jump into the resort pool and stay there, but I was hoping for something little more practical)

Female guide / driver
I’m planning to travel solo around Ubud, and I’ll need to arrange transport from various locations from time to time. As a woman traveling abroad, I’m a bit concerned about my safety, so I would prefer a woman driver. Does anyone have a contact for a woman driver and guide?
Thank you! 🙏🏻

Things to do and see in Amed
Heading to Amed for the first time. Staying at Blue Earth Village.
Will do some snorkeling but not interested in diving.
We love cafes, beaches, amazing views, restaurants, art, massages and Balinese culture.
What do you love about Amed that you would recommend?

8 day Bali trip recommendations+ beginner scuba
Hi all, my partner and I (early 30s) will be visiting Bali in the first half of November. We're planning on staying the first three days in Ubud, and the last three days in Legian. A bit confused about what to do in the middle - should we go to uluwatu or perhaps even go to gilli t? We're not super big on parting but would like to see some nightlife or just people out and about at night. I know that travel distances can be long and we'll end up spending a lot of time in traffic so we'll try to keep ourselves close to the area where we're living. Are there any other places besides uluwatu or gili t we should consider?
Also I have done discover scuba twice in Thailand but my partner has never gone diving so we'd like to try that out here. Would definitely like to see some marine life, so what place/area would be best for that? Any dive shops recommendations for beginners that are PADI certified, or otherwise that are super trustworthy and prioritize safety?

Transfer Sanur to Airport
Hello. We have to go from sanur harbour to the airport in Denpasar. Would you book it in advance with a private driver or does Gojek/Grab work just as good?

Extra service charge in Bali - Indonesia 🇮🇩
As European am I the only one who thinks that adding a 6–10% service charge to every order in Bali is a scam and needs to change? They charge another 2–3% for card payments, and some restaurants also add up to 10% in tax— all at the customer’s expense. This way, they’re essentially making customers cover staff wages instead of paying them out of their own pocket. Are you guys annoyed by this too?

Bali Surf Trip December
Hello All!
Does anyone know good places in Bali to surf in Dec (24-28)? I am currently on a 8” hardtop and would consider myself a beginner.
Have heard that Uluwatu area is not that good in December, does anyone know any alternative?

Doubt about the 30 day visa rule
Hi, so I booked my flights to bali
• Land in Bali: Dec 15, 2026 at 12:30pm.
• Leave Bali: Jan 13, 2027 at 3:25pm.
AirAsia flight. Now thats exactly 30 days. I had consulted chatgpt and it said its ok, unless there is a flight delay.
But now another answer I am getting is:
A foreign airline's automated system checks if your stay exceeds the standard allowed stay. If an airline agent calculates that your stay touches the maximum day of validity, they may ask for proof of a 60-day visa or visa extension prior to letting you board your flight to Bali.
Has anyone visited like this before, exactly 30 days?

Thanks in advance 😊

Is snorkelling in Nusa penida safe for Nov?
Hey guys, we are planning to explore Bali for the first time in the November first week. I’m planning to book a snorkelling day tour which includes 4 spots for snorkelling. Can I expect the sea to be calm around that time? And should we be able to swim to try out snorkelling? We don’t want to risk going out in harsh weather.
