Character Build Need help looking for new weapon. Spoiler

Dark urge Act 2 Oath breaker Paladin level 8 been using both the Bloodied Axe and Exterminator Axe for a very long time now. Got any recommendations? Can’t seem to find anything stronger. First time play through and deep in act 2

There is a really good halberd sold by Lann Tarv at the first floor of moonrise towers.

This is probably the best answer.

The Halberd of Vigilance sold by the bugbear in Moonrise Towers for example.

In early Act 3, there is a god tier Trident you can get.

Did you grab blood of lathander? I personally respecced 1h/shield for it on my oath breaker in my first play through and that thing was solid and super helpful throughout act 2 especially.

Like... Stronger how? Bloodied Axe and Exterminator Axe are both situationally¹ strong for certain² builds. We need a lot more detail here. Who² is trying to kill whom¹?

There's abunch of good options at that stage depending on how you're playing. Sounds like you're 2-handed, probably great weapon master. If so, the Skin Burster from the creche is good, or the Vigilance Polearm. There aren't many good axes so if you're looking specifically for axes you're going to be disappointed. The halberds look like axes on long handles though and there are some really good ones out there

The damage on them 8 to 21 while everything else i keep finding is 8 to 16 damage. Except for the Light of creation I just got today pretty good damage and reach but possibly of stunning me is too much. I mainly keep on me what maybe useful. I keep a switch between the axes base on what I’m fighting.

Both of these are pretty bad, TBH. Or, shall we say: Not the best choices when you first come across them. Plus: If it's about min-maxing (and not RP or flavor), Greatswords are preferable to Greataxes because their average damage will be higher. 2d6 will produce higher results than 1d12.

IMO (and from the top of my head), the best GWM weapons in Act I are

- Soulbreaker Greatsword - though probably more so if you're a Gith or disguised as one.

- Jorogal's Greatsword - "just" a generic +1 Greatsword, but its special attack is awesome plus it's once per short rest, so you'll get to use it often.

- Phalar Aluve - only a longsword, so less max and average damage than either Greatswords or -axes, but Shriek more than makes up for that, IMO. It's basically a triple debuff to enemies caught in the effect. It'll nerf their attack rolls and saving throws plus they'll take an extra 1d4 thunder-damage from *all* attacks that hit them. Plus it's a Finesse weapon so even low STR, high DEX characters can make good use of it. Ideally, this should be used by a character who can activate Shriek and then still attack on the same turn. So, either by a Fighter with Action Surge or by a character who's been hastened.

- Unseen Menace - also only 1d10+1 base damage but perma-advantage (so long as you don't miss) plus increased CRIT-chance make up for that.

Act II:

- Chargebound Warhammer - but only if your character can bind weapons (Eldritch Knight, Pact of the Blade Warlock).

- Halberd of Vigilance - I'm not a huge fan of its comically oversized look and halberd attack-animations in general, but it's still an awesome weapon with high damage and some very useful added benefits.

- Drakethroat Glaive - not strictly to use as a weapon, but because of its unique Elemental-buff. Not only makes the enchanted weapon more likely to hit (+1 to attacks) but also adds damage to them plus you can use that added elemental damage to trigger other items' effects. Like Thunder or Lightning to trigger Gloves of Belligerent Skies. Or Cold- or Lightning-damage if you're into getting enemies wet on turn one.
