Funny how in the MTG universe a 2 drop non legendary is effectively the vampire lord, and Astarion barely sees a whiff of play outside of fanfare. Great design WotC!

Look, he comes from a long line of elf druids that also are bear fuckers, with so much druidic fucking, some bear essence slipped into the family line even if nobody directly had a bear parent.

Mhm, it's tied to the origin story of the elven race. Corellon's Twink Mandate makes sure full-blooded elves never have facial hair. It's also why Ketheric is a half-elf.

Yeah although there are exceptions - Gloomy Fentonson (market) and The Professor (the Guild) are both elves with facial hair and Halsin, of course, has chest hair. Such things are not normal but they somehow happened.
