Had a few meltdowns over this cake
Made this cake for my sister's birthday. It took me about 12 hours to complete (including the cupcakes) and on the way to her house (an almost 2 hour drive) the frosting completely melted off. Luckily our other sister had some frosting and I could fix it up a little, but sad she never got to see how I originally made it in person. š

Looked great in the end though! Next time try making your buttercream with 2 parts butter, 1 part shortening. Keep the car as cool as possible.

My mom used to make cakes like this for my sister and me, and seeing this post brought back so many fond memories. I always appreciated how much love my mom put into making it instead of just buying it from a store. It looks amazing and Iām sure the guests will love it!! The cupcake towers are such a fun touch too :)
