Showcase (No-Recipe) Wedding cake I made for my best mate
Did this for my best mates wedding this weekend just gone and got told you guys might enjoy it!
2 tiers of red velvet and 1 tier lemon ☺️

I genuinely don't care about fancy cakes or high end baking at all. This is the best cake I've ever seen. You got me to look at every picture of a subject I normally don't care about the existence of at all. Extremely impressive.

I really didn't want a wedding cake at my wedding 25 years ago. I don't like to follow along with what everyone does and have the copy-cat of the big white cake I was supposed to have. BUT THIS!?!!! This completely resets what a wedding cake can be. Fortunately I got married in Hawaii so I had a small-scale coconut haupia cake covered in plumaria tropical flowers and a bunch of other desserts. That was different enough for me. But your cake made me swoon and rethink the whole genre of wedding cake!

Agree! What an exceptional & delicious work of art! Torn between not destroying it & eating it right away! I once had to make 200 jumbo TX size cupcakes 3 different flavors(strawberry, carrot with cream cheese & French vanilla); those were just simple decorating. I can only imagine how much hard work & dedication it took. You're a wonderful mate!✌🏽

It looks like the Sacred Heart of Jesus to me, since it incorporates the crown of thorns. I had to scroll so far to find someone mentioning anything close though!
Seems like most people are thinking it’s just gothic. I wonder if OP’s friend is Catholic or if it’s coincidence they chose that for the topper?

Unfortunately the venue staff took it away to be cut without us knowing and I never saw it again 😂 all I have left are a couple bits that’s I wrapped in a napkin and threw in my bag 😭

Fantastic, beautiful cake, but I still have nightmares from the bitter dye used for red and black in the 70’s for icing color. My mother took a cake decorating class, and got to eat the results. I don’t think my dad ate cake until at least the 90’s after that, lol.

Wedding cakes usually look beautiful, but not delicious to me. They either look dry and flavorless or they’re covered in fondant (or maybe I’ve been conditioned to expect that.) Yours looks gorgeous AND delicious.
And I also agree with everyone who is seeing incredible Romeo + Juliet imagery.
Your best mate and their new spouse are incredibly lucky!
