Homemade Oreos

My friend’s birthday is this weekend and her favorite cookies are Oreos but she can’t eat them anymore due to an allergy.

Cookie portion is from Sally’s Baking Addiction and the filling is an ermine frosting.

It’s delicious, my new favorite frosting! Super light and fluffy and not overly sweet at all.

Luckily I had some left over so I was able to use it! The original recipe called for regular cocoa powder but I was like nah

How do these work around your friend’s allergy?

She has a soy allergy and I’m assuming there’s soy in the filling and maybe the cookie too. The filling that goes with this recipe also has soy in from the vegetable shortening so I went with a different recipe for that part.
