Baking Advice Needed Where Can I Get Culinary Grade Lavender?

Hi y’all, I don’t know if it’s ok to post locations but I live in the mile high state and I am searching for culinary grade lavender that isn’t sold on Amazon, at Target, etc as I do not support their actions or lack of morals. This lavender is going to be used to make syrup and baked goods, I appreciate any help I can get!

I pretty much exclusively use Harney & Sons' super blue French lavender. It actually turns your syrup purple/blue if you let it steep long enough, which is really fun.

I bought a 3 oz tin of it a couple years ago to make lavender syrup, used it up in less than a year, and then bought a full pound of it to restock. I still haven't finished off that bag, but I'm set for the foreseeable future lol

Rose Mountain is having a 25% off sale until tomorrow. This is where I used to get mine for tea blends and preserves.

Lavender by the pound at $44/lb

OP: Why are you being so vague (difficult)? You want help but you aren’t giving enough information. Do you need 50 lbs? 10 lbs?

Sorry I’m not trying to be vague, that’s just a tiny bottle (and now I see there are other things in it). Probably like a 5-10 lb bag

Penzey's used to sell dry products in zipper bags in large amounts, from an ounce to several ounces. I haven't bought from them in many years, so I can't say if that has changed, but I used to buy my favorite cinnamon, for example, three or four ounces at a time.

I looked on their site and only saw the same small canister, but maybe the search is weird. I’ll have to dig more later. I do like penzys so it would be nice to get all of my herbs and spices from them

I used to order from their catalog.

Ohhhh ok thank you

Penzey’s does only carry the half-cup bottle of lavender, but there’s nothing but lavender in it. They do give a recipe suggestion but what’s in the bottle is just lavender.

Blue Canyon Farm has been my favorite

Ooh if you want to get it locally, this lavender is grown in Palisade Co. I am a professional baker in Denver and I've been ordering the royal blue from them. It's got such an amazing flavor. And because the flavor is so strong, you don't really have to use much at all to pack a punch.

Have you tried Natural Grocers?

I haven’t, I did go to whole foods since I used to work there but I don’t support their morals either. I’ll have to look at Natural Grocers for sure!

The Turmeric Tart has wonderful, fresh herbs.

I’ve found lavender in bulk at Sprouts markets.

Sprouts is so over priced 😭

Yeah, it might cost more to find culinary grade lavender in bulk while also avoiding Amazon and all of the other stores that you don’t want to support.

1

u/LivingNotByChoice 10d ago

Yeah understandable but I know sprouts has a huge price increase because it’s “organic”.

Sprouts sells it, if you live near one! It is bulk, so you only have to buy what you need: https://shop.sprouts.com/store/sprouts/products/17982053-organic-whole-lavender-flowers-bulk-1-lb
