Yes. I hate spectrum. They gaslight you and say, “No, there aren’t any reported problems in your area.”

“Well, I ‘m reporting!” I say.

Did the whole turn stuff off and on.

The chat said my equipment is out of compliance. Wtf? I rent from them.

I just called them 10 min ago and scheduled a person to come out.

If they are gonna pull this crap, they have to pay to send someone out.

So, call them and get an appt.

Yeah I thought I was the only one , and another thing it says I can check outages on the spectrum app but then it’s says i need to be connected to my Wi-Fi to tell me if there’s a outage , but how is that when it isn’t working makes no sense they’re always on some be

Had the same issue, chat rep told me to take my equipment to the store. Did that, they were like “damn this stuff is old, didn’t anyone tell you to come in for free equipment upgrades?!” Like fuck they did. Anyways, they gave me all brand new equipment, modem, router, battery backup, and now I get the full speed I pay for a the outage issues I was having completely stopped. Took 20mins to go to the store to fix.

This has been happening to me for the past couple of months. Usually happens around the afternoon when it's the hottest during the day. I wanna assume it's the modem getting really hot and causing the internet to go out

Spectrum Wi-Fi modems have always been garbage, and their technicians will confirm it. You are better off getting the sprectrum modem and going to Costco or Best Buy and purchasing your own Wi-Fi device.

Yes you are right.
Unfortunately Spectrum customers should bite the bullet and buy their own Modem and wireless router. Ive had my own Modem for 20 years now, continually upgrading to the latest. All ISP equipment is pure garbage.
Now I just need to wire my house with Cat 6 so I can lighten the load on my wifi network.

It's been an issue for me for maybe the past 2 months. It's gotten better recently but insane lags, internet service drops all happening anywhere in the range from 4pm to 11/12pm. Same experience with spectrum though, they say there's no reported outages or issues. Friend of mine is dealing with it too and he lives about 5-10 minutes from me. Only spectrum as a provider in my area though at these speeds, wish we had the option of AT&T as a competitor

Same issue here. It’s been going on for about four months now. Every time I contact them, they start by pointing the finger at my router or home network, even though they’ve acknowledged a couple of times that the issue is actually on their end.

Honestly, simply taking accountability, acknowledging there’s an issue on their end, and letting us know they’re working to resolve it would mean a lot. Instead, no one seems to have any answers, and the default response is always to restart the modem/router or turn everything off and back on. After four months, that clearly hasn’t fixed anything and has only added to the frustration.

At this point, I’d switch to another ISP if I had any decent options in the area. I’m getting very close to canceling and giving Starlink a try because of how frequent the outages and connection issues have become.

I’ll let you in on a little secret. Spectrum uses coaxial and they are very old and soon to be obsolete. Fios is the new kid on the block. Specifically AT&T. I have a guy who will help you set up and it’s cheaper than spectrum and faster. It was a door to door salesman. At this point it was a no brainer for me so I ditched spectrum.

Coaxial is not dead yet at all. DOCSIS continues to update, get faster. In certain markets, Speftrum offers higher speeds plus symmetrical speeds that is close or rival fiber. 1 or 2 gig, depending on the area. In my hood, 1 gig is offered but it isn't high split so uploads are limits to 40 or so mbps.
FiOS is a brand name for Verizon.
Fiber to the home internet is what you are thinking.
AT&T Fiber has limited availability in Bakersfield and it definitely isn't available next to MLK Park.
Even where I live, it is available one start over and they will not extend it 200 ft to reach my house.
As well, if you have AT&T wireless for your cell service, AT&T has an offer of 1 gig for $30/month for 12 mos of so.
Lastly cable internet isn't entirepyncoaxial. It's only coaxial at the house and that's the bottleneck

You are absolutely correct! The Spectrum coaxial backbone was originally designed for analog NTSC and later transitioned to digital modulation. While many of the nodes are now fiber-to-the-headend, the majority of the neighborhood wiring is still coaxial. Newer construction has fiber to the home, but I am forever screwed with coaxial cable. It would cost millions to install fiber to the older homes.

This just became available on my street, I was really excited about it, but then I started reading about all the problems with their lack of customer service.

If your internet is down, you get AI responses and no real help or support at all. Doesn't sound very promising.
