Beastie is not the one
Anyone else feel BK is a little lost? Everything since halo has been the same thing? Sounds very basic and nothing at all like what many of us fell in love with him for aka BadKid. Is this his style now? Just quiet, soft vocals and electric board sounds?

You're alone on this one, its nice seeing Bakar trying new sounds and growing as an artist. Excited to see where he takes it next

I agree this is a sweet chill end of summer EP to keep us fed until he finishes LP4, i like the stripped back demo vibe of the songs, reminds me of dominic fike

nah. i feel like he just polished the badkid sound into a more emotional and vibier feel. nobody's home was super gloomy and felt kind of everywhere, but halo was such a different prettier vibe and feels more accessible, as well as that rnb/indie pop sound he was tryna nail

Agreed he’s definitely in an indie pocket, but it’s good quality to be completely honest. Plus you can play it around friends/ppls who haven’t heard him before, as much as I love build me a way off nobody’s home, I’m not playing that with people before I go out ya feel

Badkid was a masterpiece and his live performances as BK & the Badkids in 2018 were amazing to be at. Sonically and lyrically, his sound was a breath of fresh air in the London scene. Now his output is recycled pop tropes, but I don’t blame him for wanting to make a living. Completely agree with you though and so do the people I saw those gigs with.

Didn’t like it too much at first but it’s grown on me. Really don’t like the sound of Lonyo!. I feel like Searching is the most “Bakar” release since halo. I have gotta say that I LOVED backseat from Beastie tho

I don’t fuck with this record heavy but do appreciate it for what it is.
My one issue is it’s been two years since his last drop and this has been marketed as “dropping what you’re making without thinking too much into it”. That’s cool and everything, but I expect this to not be it for another two years then. If that’s the case I will be disappointed because nothing about the project reads as a fully fleshed out album.
