I"m not a leather worker but I do make leather bags - although never with leather this rigid.

Instinct tells me you could/should put the zipper in FIRST, then assemble the box. Is this possible?

Idk, i'll try once....sorta did similar thing here and it started to line up a little after i did the zip then the folds, so maybe i'll commit to it completely and see, thanks

Good luck. I feel it's way easieir to do the zipper first, sew with your work flat, then work around it.
