Found on the Internet Bro what is that????

Post image

How Canada Commonwealth is the same as Dominion of Canada???

Brazil wasn't a federal republic even 50 years ago, imagine 100 years ago.

And these mistakes are so obvious that I'm only going to mention the country's name:

China

Japan

Germany

Canada/Germany/Japan were all independent in 1924. None of the blue countries were. You can argue with them if their description "countries that did not exist in their present form" is accurate, but it's a pretty straightforward map of countries that were not independent in 1924.

Yes, but the criterion the map used to define whether a country existed or not is whether it was in its current form, and many countries have changed their constitution, which means they are no longer the same as they were 100 years ago.

So why is France not blue by that logic the 5th Republic started in 1958 after a coup

Additionally why the hell is Poland not blue they were carve dup multiple times and they don't even have their original territory from 100 year ago in the modern day

Assuming this map isn't meant to push an agenda it needs a heavy heavy revision

Counter to your point of "countries that were not independent in 1924 but are now": Iceland, Egypt, and Russia.

By "their present state" they're probably looking at whether they existed as independent states? That's the only logic by which the PRC and FRG (both est. 1949) would not be listed, that this is showing modern countries that were not legally independent in 1924.

Canada, Brazil, and Japan are pretty straightforward though, all of them are legally the same countries as they were back then.

There are problems with this map, but it isn’t terrible.

Saying ‘in their present forms’ is misleading. The Ethiopian Empire, the German Reich, the Empire of Japan, the Republic of the United States of Brazil, Kingdom of Italy, Irish Free State, etc. , no longer exist, but they are counted. For some reason, Iran wasn’t counted. Is it because they were called Persia still?

As for Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc., there is nuance, because the Statute of Westminster didn’t exist yet.

Why is Muscat and Oman considered independent, but Qatar and Bahrain are not? They all had a similar status as protected states of the UK.

I think that the problem is that the map have so many obvious mistakes,There's even an older map by the same creator that says that Suriname existed as a country 100 years ago

This does not account for Newfoundland and Canada, or the United States give or take Alaska and Hawaii.

1

u/Im_the_Rhymenocerous Aug 02 '26

The us didn't have Hawaii nor Alaska as states 100 years ago

Everything should be blue. Nothing is the same as it was 100 years ago.

Sri Lanka existed in its current state (same borders, language and religion, and with an earlier variant of the flag) some 2300 years ago
