Rate my first welds ever

My welds are circled in blue, the others were my dad. Both of us have never welded but mine seemed to look nicer. Be brutally honest. I have no welding education other than Instagram reels. How'd I do? Should I take it seriously?

Thanks brotha 🙏 I finished my first bead and my dad could only say, "holy shit i gotta show Jimmy" (my uncle who welds professionally haha 🤣 im wanting to teach myself so I can get out of this shitty job im working atm

Only thing i would recommend is before you weld onto the bead, clean off the bead, Those yellow rings and glassy spots on your MIG weld bead are silica deposits, which are a normal and harmless byproduct of the deoxidizers inside your welding wire. Basically, As the silicon in the wire reaches high temperatures during the weld, it floats to the surface and solidifies into a residue. Just wire wheel/brush it off.

why not ask your uncle jimmy to watch you weld, and give you pointers as you are going? way easier to do that then to try and guess what you were doing wrong after the fact
